Everyoneis here!note
The Grounded videos largely feature many different characters that vary in personality. However, there are a handful of characters that consistently appear and are fairly consistent in characterization, regardless if they are baby show characters or not.Advertisement:
Important Note: Before adding a character to this page, make sure the character you want to add has seen a wide amount of use across the grounded videos or has something that significantly sets them apart from a character that is already on this page. If we listed every character that has ever appeared in a grounded video, we'd be here all day. A good rule of thumb is that the character has to have appeared in the videos of at least two or more users (preferably three) to be qualified to appear on this page. In addition, try to avoid cramming in too many appearance or behavioral tropes if they do not appear in a large number or videos or have too vague of a description to count.

Caillou and his family
Caillou Family
- Adaptational Villainy: Possibly the first baby show family on GoAnimate to become this.
- Badass Family: They have their moments.
- Butt-Monkey/The Chew Toy: A lot of their physical injuries tend to be played for comedy.
- Breakout Character: Caillou and family very quickly became one of the most popular subjects of the grounded videos. At first it was simply as a way to vent frustrations against the show, but now it seems that you really can't have GoAnimate grounding videos without them.
- Characterization Marches On: Back when African Vulture made videos about Caillou getting grounded, his family were jerkasses as usual, but since 'A Caillou Christmas Carol', they became more nicer than usual, leading them to from the Jerkass level, to the Nice Guy/Girl level, but sometimes Caillou will get grounded even after 'A Caillou Christmas Carol'.
- Depending on the Writer: How dysfunctional the family actually is and how much they like or dislike each other. They can have their tiffs and groundings but still care for each other in some way, all of them be terrible to each other, or have Boris, Doris, and Rosie all against Caillou.
- Dysfunctional Family/Big, Screwed-Up Family: They make the Griffins look like The Tanners.
- Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: Caillou's the foolish to Rosie's responsible. Users have been known to reverse this, however.
- Jerkass: Nearly all of them to some degree besides Rosie.
- Pet the Dog: They are far from incapable of empathy.
- Token Good Teammate: Rosie.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: If you came in expecting them to be the wholesome characters that they are canonically, then you've come to the wrong place.
- Vitriolic Best Buds: A lot of times the family just seems like they completely hate each other's guts, but some videos show that deep down inside (waaaay deep inside for some of them) they do actually care about each other. African Vulture's interpretation of the family, in particular, is a shining example of this.
Caillou
Caillou as rendered in Comedy World
Caillou in the Business Friendly style
One of the most popular and recurring characters in the grounded videos, Caillou tends to be characterized as a Enfant Terrible with a huge temper who will stop at nothing to get his way. At least, outside of the times where he's portrayed as more sympathetic. Usually voiced by David or Ivy.
- The Alcoholic: Many videos show Caillou go to the bar and kill the bartender when the latter won't give him any beer.
- Adaptational Villainy: He's the main villain of his Grounded series, unlike his original show.
- Ax-Crazy: Not nearly as much as his dad, but Caillou has been known to violently attack people who wrong him.
- Badass Adorable: He's a four year old who can demolish Chuck E Cheese's with his own hands and is able to beat up people who make him mad.
- Bald of Evil: When Caillou is genuinely villainous.
- Berserk Button:
- Deny him a trip to Chuck E Cheese's and he'll flip out.
- If Chuck E Cheese's is closed, he will destroy it.
- Don't try to teach him about friendship.
- Big Brother Bully: Towards Rosie quite a lot. Caillou frequently breaks Rosie's belongings, pulls pranks on her, or even kills her.
- Breakout Character: Quite likely the most well known GoAnimate character.
- Butt-Monkey: Thanks to his past misdeeds (and the fact that he's a baby show character), most characters are shown to not enjoy Caillou's company.
- Bratty Half-Pint: He is a young boy and is constantly having fits.
- Can't Get Away with Nuthin': He always gets grounded for everything.
- The Chew Toy: Especially during Punishment Days, and even discounting that, Caillou sometimes shows up in GoAnimate videos unrelated to him having some sort of calamity befall him.
- Crossdressing Voices: Ivy is the most popular voice-setting to give him.
- Depending on the Writer:
- Caillou's sympathetic qualities tend to go up or down depending on the user. He can be everything from an irredeemable Enfant Terrible to a Jerkass Woobie to something resembling his canon characterization.
- There are videos where he is in love with Dora and some where they are enemies. (1RedBed's videos serves as an example of the later.)
- Enfant Terrible: He's 4 years old and sometimes attacks or even kills other people.
- Even Evil Has Loved Ones: He and Dora tend to be good friends with each other. He also loves his cat, Gilbert.
- Evil Laugh: 'Har-har-har-har-har-ha-ha.'
- Flanderization: In his home series, Caillou is a generally well-meaning kid who has occasional bouts of brattiness when he doesn't get his way or doesn't understand something. In the grounded videos, Caillou throws tantrums at the drop of a hat and is sometimes excessively violent.
- Freudian Excuse: His home life isn't exactly the best.
- Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: The foolish to Rosie's responsible.
- Hair-Trigger Temper: Not as bad as his father but he will throw his trademark temper tantrums for minor things.
- Hilariously Abusive Childhood: Caillou tends to bring the punishments he gets at the hand of his parents and peers upon himself.
- In-Series Nickname: Kaylew, Kaylou and even Kay-Eye-You, due to text to speech limitations.
- Jerkass: Short-tempered, violent, politically incorrect, you name it.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: During his better moments, he's this.
- Jerkass Woobie: He's mean, but the punishments he gets are too extreme.
- Kids Are Cruel: Let's see, he pulls deadly pranks, has no problems physically harming women and is racist, why of course he counts.
- Pet the Dog: For all his nasty behavior, he's not without moments of kindness.
- Pintsized Powerhouse: He's not very tall, but he's able to beat the shit out of people pretty good.
- Repetitive Name: Some videos have his full name being 'Caillou Caillou'.
- Send in the Clones: Daillou and Baillou will sometimes appear in videos. Sometimes taken Up to Eleven by adding more -aillous, or even one for each letter of the alphabet, except the letter A.note
- Series Mascot: Seems to be the unofficial mascot of Grounded videos.
- Spoiled Brat: Far more so in the grounded videos than in his home series.
- Speaks Fluent Animal: He can understand Gilbert's meows.
- Ship Tease: With Dora.
- Sibling Yin-Yang: With Rosie. Caillou is insane, mean, and vicious, but Rosie is sane, kind, and somewhat of a pushover. Again, these traits of the characters can sometimes be reversed.
- Stupid Evil: He likes to cause chaos, even for no reason.
- The Dog Bites Back: Often in Deconstruction videos or videos where Boris is the target.
- They Killed Kenny Again: Caillou exits many of his videos having been killed (whether because of a backfired scheme or a Punishment Day), only to return unharmed in later videos.
- Throw the Dog a Bone: Often gets this in deconstruction videos or videos in which Boris or Ms. Martin is the target. He also gets this in videos where he gets ungrounded.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: Really goes without saying. Caillou goes from a bratty, yet well-meaning kid to a hot-tempered jerk.
- Took a Level in Kindness: In a lot of the deconstruction videos or videos in which Boris gets grounded, he comes off as a bit of a nicer guy. He can also come off this way in Ungrounded videos or in videos where Rosie is the target instead.
- Trademark Favorite Food:
- Caillou will move heaven and earth to spend a day at Chuck E. Cheese's.
- He is shown to be fond of beer in several videos.
- Troubling Unchildlike Behavior: He likes beer and enjoys assaulting people for fun.
- The Unfavorite: His parents clearly favor the relatively more well-behaved Rosie over him.
- Unexplained Recovery: There are a number of videos that end with him severely injured or downright killed only to come back completely fine in the next video.
- Vocal Dissonance: Whenever he is given the 'David' voice, he sounds much older than he actually is.
- Villain Protagonist: He's the main character of his videos and also the villain.
- The Woobie: Can be seen as this by ironic fans. Most of the time, his unnecessary groundings and torturous punishment days that are handed out on him are seen as unfair and downright cruel by some viewers.
- Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds: He may be a troublemaker but he is abused routinely by his parents, especially Boris.
- Would Hit a Girl: Just ask Rosie, or Clementine and Sarah, or Miss Martin.
- Would Hurt a Child: He's a child too, but he's assaulted Rosie on some occasions.
Caillou's father, nicknamed Boris, is the most frequent character to punish Caillou and is portrayed as a strict parent who is all too happy to give Caillou a Punishment Day when Caillou goes too far. However, he has been known to go to ludicrous extremes in teaching Caillou a lesson. Usually voiced by Eric.
- Abusive Parents: One of the biggest examples in the grounded videos, Boris is usually portrayed as a violent Jerkass who hands out increasingly violent and humiliating Punishment Days to Caillou whenever Caillou acts up. Sometimes, it gets to the point that everyone from his wife, his friends, and even Caillou calls him out about it.
- Adaptational Villainy: A good parent in the original show to an abusive parent in grounded videos.
- Angrish: Boris's signature 'OH OH OH OH OH OH OH OH OH OH OH OH OH!!!'
- Archnemesis Dad: Boris is Caillou's father and worst enemy.
- Ax-Crazy: Boris is often portrayed as borderline psychopathic and willing to attack or ground anyone, not just Caillou.
- Berserk Button:
- Caillou's whole existence is this for him.
- Do not ever ground Caillou for him. That's his job.
- Big Bad: Of certain deconstruction videos, and of a few users's grounded videos.
- Big 'SHUT UP!': Whenever he says this with his Eric voice, it comes out as a loud, harsh hiss.
- The Bully: Usually towards his son.
- Calling the Old Man Out: Being one of the most violent out of the parent characters, Boris gets this trope the most often, especially in Deconstruction videos.
- Depending on the Writer: While Boris is usually portrayed as an amoral Ax-CrazyJerkass, there are some users who portray Boris as either a man who means well but has trouble watching his temper or even as someone who can actually realize when he's doing something wrong.
- Disproportionate Retribution: Very fond of giving extreme punishments for minor things.
- Even Evil Has Standards:
- There are certain methods of punishment that even he would not do to Caillou.
- Boris draws the line at disrespecting people's funerals...Unless it's Caillou's funeral of corse.
- He believes that calling newborn babies stupid is low even for him.
- Even Evil Has Loved Ones: He loves his daughter Rosie, even favoring her above Caillou. But he's just as willing to psychically harm her as he does Caillou if she messes up. (Notice the word 'if'.)
- Fan Nickname: Boris does not actually have a name in Caillou, so the GoAnimate community adopted the name 'Boris'.
- Green and Mean: Has a green shirt, and is a murderous lunatic.
- Hate Sink: In the deconstruction videos, or videos where he is the target.
- Hair-Trigger Temper: He will beat up people at the drop of a hat. Goes Up to Eleven in the Caillou and Boris movie where he murders the Big Bad's wife in cold blood because she accidentally bumped into him.
- Hulking Out: Boris's alter ego Red Boris when the latter is not a separate character.
- Hero Antagonist: He's supposedly the true 'hero' of Caillou Gets Grounded Videos, but he really does go too far in his torture.
- Jerkass: Ill-tempered and sometimes excessively violent.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Some videos hit at Boris having a nicer side, whether through someone else torturing Caillou beyond the point that he would go to or Caillou having some genuine calamity befall him.
- Karma Houdini: Boris is rarely called out for his overly violent nature or even criminal activity towards Caillou.
- Karma Houdini Warranty: In videos in which he is the target.
- Moral Myopia: A classic example of a parent character being this.
- Not So Above It All: Boris is often grounded just as harshly as his son when he goes too far or does something every bit as stupid as his son.
- Offing the Offspring: He has killed Caillou in several 'Punishment Day' videos.
- Speaks Fluent Animal: He can understand cats.
- Tautological Templar: Has his moments.
- Token Evil Teammate: Some videos in which he is the target will portray him as this to the Caillou family.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: In the actual TV show, Boris is a calm, level-headed adult who is relatively patient with Caillou. In the grounded videos, Boris is pretty much the complete opposite.
- Villainous Breakdown: Will often suffer one in Deconstruction videos.
- Would Hurt a Child: He gives Caillou painful Punishment Days, and even kills him often. He does this to Rosie occasionally too.
- Would Hit a Girl: Boris is okay with killing Rosie or inflicting Punishment Days on her if she really acts up.
- Your Cheating Heart: He occasionally cheats on Doris for other female characters such as Miss Martin.
Doris
Caillou's mother, nicknamed Doris, frequently grounds Caillou (but rarely gives out Punishment Days) and is often Caillou's parent who is present at Caillou's tantrums and misdeeds.
- Abusive Parents: She's not usually as violent as Boris, but she still grounds Caillou for excessively long periods of time and only occasionally gives Caillou punishments when sufficiently ticked off.
- Berserk Button:
- Don't steal her bow.
- Don't call her a 'Door Head'.
- Don't cheat on her.
- Defrosting Ice Queen: In a lot of deconstruction videos.
- Depending on the Writer: Just how patient or violent towards Caillou she is or how nice (or evil) she is tends to vary.
- The Dragon: Sometimes serves as this to Boris.
- Embarrassing Nickname: She's not fond of being called a doorhead.
- Fan Nickname: Doris received her name for the same reasons as Boris.
- Heel–Face Turn: Some deconstruction videos involving the Caillou Gets Grounded videos have Doris finally having enough and siding with Caillou when either Boris finally goes off the deep end or Caillou finally calls his parents out on their actions.
- Hair Decorations: Wears a blue bow.
- Ice Queen: Somewhat aloof towards her son and doesn't have so much personality beyond being somebody who agrees with Boris on everything.
- It Runs in the Family: She and Rosie are both (Mostly in Deconstruction videos) shown to be calmer then their husband and brother, respectively.
- Jerkass Realization: If we are to believe that the above characterization is true in some of the deconstruction videos, it's likely that her Heel Face Turns in some of them are brought on by this trope.
- Mama Bear: Is often portrayed as this in deconstruction videos and videos where either Boris or Ms. Martin is the target.
- No Sympathy: She's pretty apathetic. Some deconstruction videos or videos in which Boris is the target tend to subvert it.
- Only Sane Man: On the rare occasion Rosie isn't having this role, she is.
- Reasonable Authority Figure: Depending on the Writer, she is sometimes portrayed as more easy to reason with than Boris.
- Satellite Character: Doesn't have much character beyond being somebody who agrees with most of the things Boris does.
- Screw This, I'm Outta Here!: A common plot in 'Life With/Without [Character]' videos is that Doris leaves after Boris is too harsh on the kids. Of course, things get even worse as soon as she's gone.
- * Sugar-and-Ice Personality: Deconstruction videos will often give her a less frostier side.
- Taking the Kids: Often happens in Deconstruction videos or videos where Boris is the target.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: Even with her standard characterization tending to be less violent and mean than Boris, she is still far and way more rude and harsh than her TV counterpart.
- Useless Bystander Parent: Will sometimes be portrayed as one in deconstruction videos wherein Boris' abuse gets a point where she grows a spine and stands up to him for Caillou.
- Took a Level in Kindness: Tends to come off as a bit nicer in the deconstruction videos, and even some unironic videos, where normally she is the more reasonable parent who's willing to at least listen before casting a judgement on her children.
- Trademark Favorite Food: Some videos show her to be fond of McDonald's.
- Women Are Wiser: Doris tends to have a lot more common sense than Boris, is sometimes shown to be a bit more patient with Caillou, and sometimes even has the guts to call out Boris when he goes too far in punishing Caillou.
- Yes-Man: To Boris.
- Your Cheating Heart: Cheats on Boris quite often.
Advertisement:
Rosie
Caillou's younger sister. Rosie tends to be more well behaved than...pretty much everyone else in her family, but is often the most frequent target of Caillou's schemes. Tends to be voiced by Salli or Shy Girl.
- Adaptational Jerkass: A notable aversion. She's relatively close to her canon counterpart. Most of the time, anyway.
- Annoying Younger Sibling: Rosie sometimes is characterized this way towards Caillou. Sometimes she's even the one who regularly torments her sibling instead of the other way around.
- Black Bead Eyes: Has these sorts of eyes by some users.
- Break the Cutie: Frequently.
- Butt-Monkey: Caillou's favorite target for abuse.
- However, in the Rosie gets grounded videos, her Butt-Monkey status grows stronger and she starts turning into one since some users make her either a troublemaker or make her just as abusive to the point where multiple people don't enjoy her company.
- Depending on the Writer: Most commonly, Rosie is portrayed as the Token Good Teammate/Only Sane Man of the Caillou family, but some users (notably the user MattTheGoAnimator) make her either the main trouble-maker of the family instead of Caillou or make her just as callous and abusive as the rest.
- Extreme Doormat: Has a tendency to be easily bossed around by her older brother.
- Fragile Flower: One of the few things she has in common with her canon counterpart.
- Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: Responsible to Caillou's foolish.
- However in the Rosie gets grounded videos, Caillou is the Straight Man Responsible to Rosie's Annoying Younger Sibling and Bratty Half-Pint Foolish.
- Hero Antagonist: Arguably a straighter example then Boris.
- Iron Woobie: She's constantly getting picked on by Caillou, but she doesn't really complain about it.
- It Runs in the Family: She and Doris are both (Mostly in Deconstruction videos) shown to be calmer then their brother and husband, respectively.
- Jerkass Ball: In videos in which she is characterized as an Annoying Younger Sibling or videos in which she is the troublemaker.
- Not So Above It All: Sometimes Rosie is just as much of a troublemaker as her brother.
- Nice Girl: The only truly nice member of the Caillou family.
- Only Sane Man: Rosie is consistently shown to be the most level-headed out of all her family members. Not that that's saying much.
- Parental Favoritism: Rosie is treated much better by her parents than Caillou is.
- Slapstick Knows No Gender: Frequently on the receiving end of physical harm from Caillou.
- Sibling Yin-Yang: With Caillou. She is nice, obedient, and sane, whereas Caillou is a jerk.
- Shorter Means Smarter: The Only Sane Man of the Caillou family who is the shortest of them, unless you count Cody, Daisy or Emily, who are normally smarter than her.
- The Dog Bites Back: Occasionally.
- They Killed Kenny Again: Many times, Caillou's schemes end with Rosie dead. Regardless, she returns without harm in later videos.
- Token Good Teammate: Seems to be the only member of Caillou's family not to be a jerk. She does still have her troublemaking moments, though.
- Too Dumb to Live: Rosie rarely gets wise to Caillou's schemes and inevitably has some sort of calamity befall her thanks to him.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: In 'Caillou's Teenhood' and in videos where she is the troublemaker could fall under this.
- Trademark Favorite Food: A few videos show Starbucks as her favorite restaurant, with others going with the a direct competitor to Chuck E. Cheese's (and thus her brother), Peter Piper Pizza.
- Third-Person Person: A few video makers have her talk like this, such as African Vulture's early videos.
- Vague Age: Sometimes, Rosie is a baby who can barely talk (like she is in the actual Caillou TV show, but other times she is speaking coherently and regularly does the things that a six-year-old would do.
- The Woobie: It's quite easy to feel bad for her, being the Token Good Teammate of a Dysfunctional Family and all.
- Vocal Evolution: After Shy Girl got removed, her voice became Salli, thus making her sound older.
Gilbert
Caillou's cat. Even though he doesn't speak in words the rest of Caillou's family can understand him.
- Cats Are Mean: Downplayed. He's more naughty than actually mean. A rare few videos actually play this straight Gilbert taking part in the schemes of other characters or taking part in a Punishment Day
- Cats Are Snarkers: Of the Silent Snarker variety.
- Character Tic: Tapping his head with his tail whenever he's thinking.
- Cute Kitten: May or may not be an actual kitten, but still adorable nonetheless.
- Nice Guy: He's very loyal to Caillou and doesn't question the latter's orders. Gilbert even rescues Boris in Caillou's Missing Cat Gilbert Part 2, who had sent him away for trivial reasons before, and forgives him easily.
- Intelligible Unintelligible: Caillou and his family understand his meows.
- Ridiculously Cute Critter: A Cute Kitten.
- Silent Snarker: His meows are sometimes shown in subtitles saying snarky things.
- The Unintelligible: He only communicates by meowing.
- Undying Loyalty: To Caillou.
- You Don't Look Like You: Gilbert is usually represented in the videos as a stock cat character within the various themes, none of which look particularly like him. It's especially evident when Gilbert is played by the stock Cartoon Classics cat character, which is a white fluffy feminine looking cat.
- Adaptational Villainy: Of course, since they are a member of the Caillou family.
- Grumpy Old Man: They're both grandparents and equally cruel.
- Jerkass: They are unkind, with nothing to like about them.
- Screw Politeness, I'm a Senior!: Grandma and Grandpa are elderly and don't bother with kindness.
- Tautological Templar: Runs in the family.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: Like most members of the Caillou family.
Other Caillou Characters
Ms. Martin
Ms. Martin is Caillou's teacher at school. Much unlike her depiction in the TV show, she is very impatient with her students and will send them to the principal at the drop of a hat.
- Adaptational Villainy: She's a terrible teacher now, in contrast to her original counterpart.
- Big Bad Duumvirate: Sometimes serves as this alongside Boris if they team up.
- Boomerang Bigot: In a couple of videos, she's insulted Leo for being a ginger despite being one herself.
- Butt-Monkey/The Chew Toy: Often tends to be abused by Caillou just as badly as she abuses him.
- The Bully: Often acts this way to all the students.
- Depending on the Writer: How much of an evil teacher she is depends on the user.
- Disproportionate Retribution: Tends to send kids to the principal's office for tiny things.
- Evil Redhead: She has red hair, and is a horrible teacher to the kids.
- Evil Teacher: She is not above physically punishing her students or sending them to the principal for even the most trivial of reasons. Especially Caillou.
- Expy: She is remarkably similar to Boris in anumber ofways, to the point that she is frequently shipped with him.
- Fiery Redhead: Overlapping with Evil Redhead, she has a short fuse and has absolutely no patience for her students' antics.
- Hair-Trigger Temper: Ms. Martin gets extremely angry with minimal provocation. This can be seen with all of her students, but especially Caillou.
- Hate Sink: Is sometimes portrayed as one in videos which have her as the target.
- Holier Than Thou: She thinks she's the only good person in the school. Nothing could be further from the truth.
- Jerkass: See Evil Teacher and Sadist Teacher for more details.
- Jerkass Has a Point: Ms. Martin is right about Caillou being misbehaved.
- Karma Houdini Warranty: See Laser-Guided Karma.
- Knight Templar: A sadistic, evil, and mean teacher.
- Laser-Guided Karma: Although, for the most part, on the giving end of this trope, there are a few examples where she's on the receiving end for her treatment of Caillou or other characters.
- Moral Myopia: She's fine with doing bad stuff to Caillou but gets mad when he does bad stuff to her.
- Not-So-Well-Intentioned Extremist: Ms. Martin acts like she only wants to keep Caillou out of trouble but it's only skin deep.
- Politically Incorrect Villain: Some videos show her harassing Caillou for his baldness and some other videos show her harassing Leo for having red hair despite being a redhead herself.
- Prim and Proper Bun: Certain users such as Alan The GoAnimator portray depict her wearing a bun.
- Red Is Violent: A redhead who is a overly-strict teacher.
- Sadist Teacher: She can, and will, punish Caillou (or other students) for very petty or trivial reasons.
- Slapstick Knows No Gender: Caillou loves to prank her.
- Tautological Templar: She can justify almost everything bad she does.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: Noticing a trend here?
- Tomboyish Ponytail: She's a tough girl, and some users depict her with this hairstyle.
Leo, Clementine and Sarah
As they are in the actual Caillou series, Leo, Sarah, and Clementine are three of Caillou's classmates who commonly appear in 'Caillou Gets Grounded' videos that take place at school. It would probably be a stretch to call them Caillou's friends here, but they are still (and quite often, depending on the user) sometimes portrayed that way.
- Adaptational Jerkass: As to be expected by now.
- Adaptational Villainy: Caillou's friends in their original show, but now they are bullies to Caillou.
- Angry Black Man: Clementine.
- Asian Rudeness: Sarah is Asian and mean.
- Black Best Friend: Clementine, when she's actually shown being Caillou's friend.
- Berserk Button:
- Never call Leo a ginger.
- Don't call Clementine the n-word unless you want to be tattled on.
- Butt-Monkey: Not that they don't deserve it.
- The Bully: They are always picking on Caillou.
- The Chew Toy: All three are frequent targets of Caillou's schemes. They almost always have it coming because of the way they treat Caillou.
- Depending on the Writer: Whether or not they are actually friends with Caillou seems to vary. They can either actually be Caillou's friends, whether they misbehave with him or will blow the whistle on him when Caillou causes trouble, or they can hate Caillou's guts just like everyone else.
- The Dividual: They mostly appear together (most notably in classroom scenes) and are either there to be Caillou's best friends (and ditch him when ever they get a chance) or be bullies to him. Even their standards listed below are similar.
- Embarrassing Nickname: In some videos, Leo has the nickname of Ginger gaylord.
- Enraged by Idiocy: And it's often Caillou's idiocy that gets to them.
- Even Evil Has Standards:
- Leo thinks that making fun of redheads goes too far.
- Clementine is mean but she draws the line at black people being discriminated.
- Evil Redhead: Leo has red hair and is a jerk.
- Gang of Bullies: The three of them are always seen together and they insult Caillou frequently.
- Good Is Not Nice: They are supposedly on the side on good, but each of them are awful friends to Caillou.
- Grumpy Bear: All three of them can be pretty sullen from time to time.
- Heel–Face Revolving Door: Sometimes they'll be friends with Caillou, sometimes they are his enemies.
- He Who Fights Monsters: They attempt to stop Caillou, but even he could look like a saint in comparison to them.
- Ice Queen: Clementine and Sarah.
- It Runs in the Family: Clementine's Mom is sometimes shown to have as much of a temper problem as her daughter.
- In-Series Nickname: Some videos will give Leo the nickname of Ginger Gaylord or some sort of derogatory term for redheaded people.
- Jerkass: They love to tell Caillou how much they hate him.
- Jerkass Has a Point: Yes, they are assholes, but a lot of the stuff they do chew out Caillou for (E.G. A spoiled brat, a troublemaker, a racist) are true.
- Karma Houdini Warranty: Even though they often get away with picking on Caillou, there are some occasions where they're punished for their actions.
- Kids Are Cruel: Especially towards Caillou.
- Living Prop: Unless they are central to the videos plot, they largely serve as this in Caillou's classroom scenes, especially the girls.
- Moral Myopia: They don't like when Caillou makes fun of their appearance, yet they are fine with attacking him for being bald.
- Not So Above It All: Leo is sometimes willing to be just as much of a troublemaker as Caillou, to the point where he's teamed up with the latter to cause trouble on a few occasions.
- Redhead In Green: Leo.
- Repetitive Name: There are some videos that imply that Clementine's full name is Clementine Clementine.
- Sassy Black Woman: Clementine's GoAnimate incarnation could give her counterpart in the cartoon a run for her money.
- Ship Tease: Clementine and Sarah tend to get this with Leo.
- Slapstick Knows No Gender: Clementine and Sarah get hurt semi-often.
- Teacher's Pet: All three of them are sometimes portrayed as Miss Martin's favorite students, especially Leo. Sometimes they are even shown conspiring with Miss Martin to humiliate Caillou together.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: All three of them.
- Took a Level in Kindness: On the other hand, a significant number of videos where they appear tends to have them as actual friends who show true kindness towards Caillou. Ironically, in these videos, Rosie, Boris or Daisy are often the target instead.
- The Stool Pigeon: Will tattle on Caillou the second he does something wrong.
- Two Girls and a Guy: Sarah and Clementine are the girls, and Leo is the guy.
- Terrible Trio: Always seen together, and they verbally abuse Caillou.
- With Friends Like These...: Even in videos where they actually seem to be friends with Caillou, the minute Caillou does something stupid they will be sure to tell someone and get him grounded.
Mr. Hinkle
Caillou's neighbor, Mr. Hinkle is commonly portrayed as a fairly cranky old man who isn't always happy to see Caillou, in stark contrast to the reasonably friendly man he is canonically. He is another of Caillou's most frequent targets for trouble-making.
- Adaptational Villainy: 'Villainy' may be a strong word, though.
- Berserk Button: Probably the original character to hate being called 'Grandpa' by a troublemaker.
- The Chew Toy: Another one of Caillou's frequent victims.
- Cool Old Guy: In deconstruction videos, he regains this trope from his appearance in the show he's derived from.
- Cranky Neighbor: Caillou's neighbor and also a jerk.
- Embarrassing First Name: 'Cockfucker'.
- Grumpy Old Man: Mr. Hinkle is an elderly man and also very impolite.
- Jerkass Has a Point: Mr. Hinkle is occasionally correct about stuff.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Occasionally, he is given a good side, most often in Deconstruction videos, and is brought closer to his canon personality.
- Last-Name Basis: Given that his first name is apparently Cockfucker, it's quite understandable.
- Screw Politeness, I'm a Senior!: He's kind of rude to everyone.
- The Stool Pigeon: Mr. Hinkle is a huge snitch.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: Once a kindly maker of bird-houses, Mr. Hinkle is commonly portrayed in the grounded videos as a cranky old man who hates everybody, especially Caillou. (Who he is good friends with in the original show, but is now quite possibly the person he hates the most here.)
- Unfortunate Names: His first name is 'Cockfucker'.
- Who Names Their Kid 'Dude'?: Certain videos say that his name is 'Cockfucker'.
Clementine's Mom
Clementine's Mom is usually shown to be the principal at Caillou's school, and as such, she is one of the people Caillou meets the most often at school.
- Angry Black Man: Can lapse into this when she learns about something Caillou has done.
- Black Bead Eyes: Her eyes are shown like this.
- Black Boss Lady: The principal at the school and is black.
- Dean Bitterman: While not usually portrayed as evil like Miss Martin, she is easily exasperated by Caillou and the things he does at school and largely ignores anything Miss Martin does to him or anyone else.
- Depending on the Writer: Whether or not she's a mean principal or not depends on the user.
- Green and Mean: Wears a green shirt, although she isn't as bad as most adult characters.
- It Runs in the Family: She is shown to have just as much of a temper problem as her daughter.
- Jerkass Has a Point: Caillou is a legitimate trouble maker, though any sympathy that can be given to her for that would be cancelled out by her tendencies to expel him or suspend him at the drop of a hat.
- No Name Given: Unlike Boris and Doris, there is no adopted name for her in the grounded videos.
- Reasonable Authority Figure: Some videos depict her as being one.
- Sassy Black Woman: Downplayed, but she tends to get exasperated and snarky easily.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: Probably gets this the least as far as the Caillou characters go (she's more exasperated and strict than an outright Jerkass), but she's still significantly more harsh than she is canonically.
- Took a Level in Kindness: On the other hand, she is often portrayed as more reasonable and thoughtful than the teachers, and will sometimes help Caillou out when he's being treated unfairly.
Billy Clementine
Clementine's older brother.
- Adaptational Villainy: Like most of everyone.
- Angry Black Man: He's black and a bully.
- The Bully: Mainly to his younger sister.
- Big Brother Bully: Towards Clementine.
- Green and Mean: His green shirt.
- Jerkass: Although especially towards Clementine.
- Nice Hat: A backwards baseball cap.
- Red Is Violent: His red hat.
- Teens Are Monsters: A teen and is mean to Clementine.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: As usual.
Claire and Derek Tubler
Leo's parents, who commonly appear in videos where Leo is the one getting grounded.- Abusive Parents: In a few videos where Leo is the target, they tend to come off as right sourpusses towards him.
- Adaptational Villainy: They're Caillou characters. What did you expect?
- Black Bead Eyes: Claire.
- Depending on the Writer: In most videos in which they appear, they are either just as bad as the other parents, other times they are portrayed as willing to defend Leo.
- Evil Redhead: Claire.
- Jerkass: Nearly goes without saying.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: It's to be expected already.
- Amazing Technicolor Population: Like Boris, Classic Caillou sometimes takes on a 'Classic Caillou the Teeth Guy' form in some videos, complete with red skin and Volumetric Mouth.
- Badass Adorable: Classic Caillou can break things without really trying to.
- Bald of Evil: Has it worse than Modern Caillou.
- Canon Foreigner: In videos where he's a separate character who appears alongside 'Modern' Caillou.
- Decomposite Character: Some users' videos actually have both Classic Caillou and Modern Caillou existing alongside each other.
- Enfant Terrible: He has no qualms about killing people, breaking things and generally being a nuisance.
- Evil Has a Bad Sense of Humor: Has an even more awful sense of humor than the Modern Caillou.
- Jerkass: Worse than Modern Caillou.
- Palette Swap: It's literally Caillou but with a beige shirt.
- Sir Swears-a-Lot: Tends to swear a lot, and often gets called out or grounded for it.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: Like Caillou, but worse.
- Took a Level in Kindness: Much like 'Modern' Caillou, Classic Caillou gets this in some Deconstruction videos and parodies where the 'Modern' Caillou isn't present.
Original Caillou-related Characters
Boris the Teeth Guy
Whether as a transformation of Boris or as a separate person, Boris the Teeth Guy stays the same: A completely red version of Boris with enlarged facial features who is incredibly violent, excessively foul-mouthed, and even racist who regularly punishes everybody, not just Caillou.
- Abusive Parents: To Caillou.
- Amazing Technicolor Population: He's a human, and is red.
- The Bully: Beats up everyone.
- Canon Foreigner: As if the description didn't make it obvious, Red Boris is a original GoAnimate character who didn't appear in the original show.
- Catchphrase:
- 'Face my teeth! Face it!'
- 'BAZ-TARD OF ASS!'
- 'WHAT DO YOU THINK I'LL DO NEXT?! TO BE CONTINUED ON WAH-AY-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-AH!'
- Cluster F-Bomb: Red Boris swears almost constantly in his dialogue.

- Green and Mean: A guy with a green shirt who is evil.
- Hair-Trigger Temper: He is always angry no matter what.
- Jerkass: He's never been nice to anyone.
- Leaning on the Fourth Wall: Whenever he's thwarted or taken away at the end of one of his rampages, he'll almost always spout off one of his Catchphrases, 'WHAT DO YOU THINK I'LL DO NEXT?! TO BE CONTINUED ON WAH-AY-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-AH!'
- Motor Mouth: Speaks in long-winded sentences peppered in swear words.
- Nightmare Fuel Station Attendant: You can't blame everyone else for having a fear of him.
- No Indoor Voice: Red Boris is always shouting and never lowers his voice.
- O.O.C. Is Serious Business: If he starts speaking quietly and isn't shouting, then you know something is wrong.
- Red Is Violent: Has red skin and is perpetually pissed off.
- Perpetual Frowner: Always has an angry expression on his face.
- Politically Incorrect Villain: Racial epithets are sometimes mixed into the character's dialogue.
- Sir Swears-a-Lot: Can hardly even go a single sentence without saying one swear word.
- Suddenly SHOUTING!: Even though he shouts all the time, his appearances will usually end with him yelling 'WHAT (THE [insert expletives here]) DO YOU THINK I'LL DO NEXT? TO BE CONTINUED ON WAH-AY AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-AGH.'
- Volumetric Mouth: Most depictions of Red Boris have his mouth increased to its max size, giving way to his other nickname 'Boris the Teeth Guy'.
Green Boris
The logical opposite of Boris the Teeth Guy, Green Boris is Boris's always-positive and overly happy counterpart. Obsessed with buns for some reason, Green Boris tends to get into trouble from irritating others as a result of his unbridled kindness and joy. He doesn't mean it though.
- Amazing Technicolor Population: A green-skinned human.
- Catchphrase:
- 'I am the bun!'/'My name is bun!'
- The Chew Toy: Often gets into trouble for being irritating, even though he doesn't mean it.
- Evil Twin: Boris the Teeth Guy is Green Boris's evil twin. Boris the Teeth Guy considers this to be the opposite.
- Nice Guy: Much nicer than his Evil Counterpart Boris The Teeth Guy.
- Perpetual Smiler: You'll hardly ever see him not smile.
- The Pollyanna: Has a positive attitude by default.
- Trademark Favourite Food: He LOVES buns, and sometimes sings about them.
- Volumetric Mouth: Like Boris the Teeth Guy, his mouth is increased to its max size.
Daisy
Daisy is the younger sister of Rosie who is featured in several GoAnimate series. While she is 'canonically' two years old, she often gets into more trouble than both her elder brother and sister combined, and has been on the receiving end of several punishment days.
- Ax-Crazy: Possibly gets this from her father.
- Bratty Half-Pint: Could even give Caillou a run for his money.
- Canon Foreigner: Like Daillou and Boris the Teeth Guy, she is an original GoAnimate Character who didn't appear in the original show.
- Cute and Psycho: Pretty cute in appearance but she's audacious and violent.
- Enfant Terrible: In most of her appearances in videos. Most of the time, she actually surpasses both her siblings' misdeeds in terms of audacity and sheer violence.
- Evil Brit: Has a British accent in some videos.
- Evil Redhead / Fiery Redhead: Like her sister, Rosie, but worse.
- Green and Mean: Daisy is violent, crazy, raving, and wears a green shirt.
- Nightmare Fuel Station Attendant: Seems to run in the family.
- Politically Incorrect Villain: In Matt TheGoAnimator's videos, Daisy shares Rosie's hatred of Mexicans and anything Mexican.
- Impossibly Tacky Clothes: Wears an eye-bleedingly bright green button-up shirt over a bright magenta skirt and dark blue high heels.
- Third-Person Person: She speaks this way by some users, for example, 'Daisy agree with Rosie.'
- Unexplained Accent: The rest of her family is Canadian but speak in American accents, but she has a British accent.
- What an Idiot!: Most of the trouble she ends up in is the fault of her own stupidity, as she frequently makes poor decisions such as breaking things, breaking into buildings, deleting her brother's internet accounts and other such misdemeanours.
- Would Hurt a Child: Daisy has injured or given out punishment days to Rosie and Caillou on occasion. Ironic considering that she's a child too.
Emily
Cody's younger sister, Emily is the purple-haired younger sibling of Cody, and in most videos where she appears is the youngest member of the Caillou family. Depending on whether Daillou is present, she's either Caillou's fifth or sixth sibling.- Only Sane Man: Appears to almost never get into trouble, and normally appears on the receiving end of her two elder sisters' malice. When she does cause trouble, it can be catastrophic.
- Odd Name Out: Out of Caillou's sisters, (Rosie, Daisy, Emily and Lily) Emily is normally the only sister not to be named after a plant.
- You Gotta Have Blue Hair: Emily has vivid magenta hair.
Daillou
Daillou is a twin of Caillou who is featured in several videos, usually as either a 'kinder' counterpart to Caillou or a friend who Caillou can misbehave and scheme with. Unlike Caillou, Daillou wears a red shirt. One of Daillou's most famous portrayals is that of the user SolitaireJoker, where Daillou is a big time 'bad boy' Kidanova.
- All Girls Want Bad Boys: He behaves like a 'bad boy' in Solitaire Joker's videos, and says that girls adore him.
- Body Horror: In 'Caillou's Teenhood', his head is abnormally shaped, and his ear is twisted on the bottom of his head.
- Beware the Silly Ones: Daillou is a goofy sex maniac but he nearly wins his brawl with Boris in 'Caillou's Teenhood'.
- Canon Foreigner: Another original GoAnimate character.
- Color-Coded for Your Convenience: Daillou's red shirt as opposed to Caillou's yellow shirt. Most other 'long lost twin brothers' of Caillou tend to have their own shirt colors as well, to distinguish them from the real Caillou.
- Dirty Kid: In Solitaire Joker's videos, he is a self-proclaimed 'sexy' kid who knows a lot about sex, seeing as how he had to teach a grown man how to get laid.
- Expy: In Solitaire Joker and Isaac Anderson's Caillou's Teenhood, he lacks his bad boy personality, and instead is a wheelchair-bound Stephen Hawking expy, complete with text-to-speech voice.
- Flat Character: Daillou is often simply a duplicate of Caillou distinguished only by his different colored shirt. A select few users (such as Solitaire Joker) do try to set Daillou apart from Caillou himself by giving him his own quirks and ways that he rolls. (In the case of the specifically cited user, Daillou is a stereotypical 'bad boy' with a scar on his face.)
- Handicapped Badass: In 'Caillou's Teenhood', he's shown in a wheelchair but he still puts up a good battle against Boris. He may have lost the fight, but hey.
- Informed Attractiveness: In the Solitaire Joker videos. He is said by many characters including himself to be 'sexy', but he just looks like Caillou with a red shirt and a scar. Caillou in question is called ugly by characters in-universe too, although that may be just because of his Butt-Monkey status.
- Kidanova: All the ladies love him. He even calls himself 'sexy'.
- Leitmotif: In Solitaire Joker's videos, every time he starts talking, 'Sexyback' plays in the background.
- Long-Lost Uncle Aesop: Daillou tends to be introduced this way when he starts getting featured in a user's grounded videos.
- Lovable Sex Maniac: In 'Solitaire Joker' videos, he's a funny guy who has sex with many different women.
- Nice Mean And Inbetween: The In-between to Rosie's Nice and Caillou's Mean.
- Palette Swap: Daillou and any other -aillou characters tend to be this. Daillou is just the most notable one.
- O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Daillou doesn't act like his goofy sex maniac self in 'Caillou's Teenhood' and is much more serious, due to being injured by Boris. HisLeitmotif of 'Sexyback' doesn't play when he talks, either.
- Perpetual Expression: In 'Caillou's Teenhood', his face is perpetually in an expression of pain due to the awful abuse that Boris gave him.
- Really Gets Around: Solitaire Joker's videos claim that he has had sex with a lot of women.
- Red Is Heroic: His shirt is red, but whether or not he's a hero depends on the user.
- Remember the New Guy?: Other times Daillou is just suddenly there with Caillou's family without much explanation.
- Unfortunate Names: Daillou, which sounds like 'die-you' if pronounced the usual way of pronouncing Caillou's name.
Uolliac
And the Uolliac and the Uolliac and the Uolliac WEEA-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-AH
Caillou's bizarro counterpart whose antics defy all explanation. Uolliac's exact origins are a mystery, but one thing's for certain; whenever it shows up and no matter what form it takes, things will get weird and fast. He is voiced by Jennifer.
- Broken Record: A common trait with the Uolliac and the Uolliac and the Uolliac and the Uolliac...
- Canon Foreigner: Quite obviously, the Uolliac is an original character created in these videos.
- Canon Immigrant: An unusual example contained entirely within the grounded videos: Uolliac originated as a deformed version of Caillou used in the satirical videos by NotSmirks. The fandom took a shining to the character, however and wound up making the Uolliac into the character that he is in the grounded videos now.
- Clone by Conversion: Rarely seen in a few deleted videos, such as to an unlucky security guard in a video titled 'Five Nights At Uolliac's 2' which was deleted.
- Chaotic Neutral: Despite constantly warping everything around him, the Uolliac doesn't usually harbor any ill-will to the people he bumps into. (But people do get caught up in the Uolliac's and the Uolliac's and the Uolliac's warping.)
- Crossdressing Voices: 'Oh no my voice is still Jennifer WEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH.'
- Excrement Statement: Uolliac is seen pooping on people a lot.
- Gonk: While some depictions of the Uolliac simply have him as a constantly crying duplicate of Caillou, other depictions have him (or other versions of him anyway) as highly deformed versions of Caillou.
- Humanoid Abomination: Uolliac completely shatters the laws of physics by seemingly the simple act of existing, considers temperatures hotter than the sun to be too cold, and comes in a wide-variety of bizarre forms. It's implied there's a whole species of Uolliac.
- Insistent Terminology: It's not strawberry shortcake it's strayberry strayberry strayberry strayberry strayberry shtcake a-a-aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa-aah!!!
- Perpetual Frowner: 90% of the time it's crying for seemingly no reason.
- Reality Warper: It's mere existence seems to warp time and space around it.
- Sdrawkcab Name: Its name is a backwards version of 'Caillou'.
- Trademark Favorite Food: Strayberry strayberrystrayberry shtcake. Also seems fond of McDonald's.
- Verbal Tic: Several, but most notably 'And the Uolliac and the Uolliac and the Uolliac' and 'WEEA-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-AH'.
Caillou's son in the now-terminated Isaac Anderson videos, and the younger sibling of Caillou and Rosie (and Daisy in the 'Matt The GoAnimator' videos) in some other users' videos.
- Baby Talk: Spoke this way in the terminated 'Crystalpeg' videos.
- Bald of Awesome: Downplayed on 'Awesome', but he usually isn't shown to be as much as a troublemaker as his older siblings.
- Bald of Evil: Downplayed on 'Evil', but he can be mischievous. Nowhere near as bad as Caillou is, though.
- Canon Foreigner: Never appeared in the original Caillou show.
- Morality Pet: To Caillou in the Isaac Anderson videos. He's probably the only person Caillou was never mean to.
- Punctuated! For! Emphasis!: He adds emphasis on every word he says in Matt The GoAnimator's videos.
- The Speechless: Does nothing but cries in Matt The GoAnimator's videos. Justified as he is too young to talk. Although averted as of Rosie Pinches Cody, as he is Suddenly Voiced.
- Suddenly Voiced: In his first few appearances in Matt The GoAnimator videos, he was mostly silent. But from Rosie Pinches Cody and onwards, he does speak, albeit in a rather childish and babbling manner.
- Red Is Heroic: Red can be seen on some parts of his clothes. How heroic he is does depends on the user, however - most interpretations of the character as of 2018 have him wearing blue, in fact.
- Third-Person Person: In the Isaac Anderson videos, he has this form of speech.
- Verbal Tic: In Matt The GoAnimator videos, Cody. Tends. To. Say. Every. Word. With. Emphasis.
Dora and related characters
Marquez Family
- Adaptational Villainy: Arguably got it worse than Caillou's family as all of them have become pretty terrible people in the grounded videos.
- Badass Family: They can pull off amazing feats together, or just one member of the family doing something awesome.
- Breakout Character: For basically the same reasons as Caillou and his family.
- Butt-Monkey/The Chew Toy: They get put through a lot of bad luck.
- Depending on the Writer: It's rare, but some users do give Dora and her family more sympathetic qualities.
- Dysfunctional Family/Big, Screwed-Up Family: Much like the Caillous, they make the Griffins look like the Tanners.
- Jerkass: Dora is a bully, and her parents are abusive towards her.
- Pet the Dog: They're not incapable of empathy, even if they these moments tend to be fewer and far between compared to Caillou and his family.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: All of them, but especially Mami and Abuela when compared to their canonical counterparts.
Dora is the other most popular grounding victim in the grounded videos. Much like Caillou, she regularly misbehaves for a multitude of different reasons before inevitably getting busted and grounded. Despite interacting with Caillou frequently, most of the videos involving her have their own set of characters for Dora to interact with. Many of Dora's videos take place at school, where Dora pulls pranks, picks on other students like star student Gina, and makes messes that get her grounded.
- Adaptational Villainy: Just like all the troublemakers.
- Always Someone Better: Dora harbors a resentment for her fellow student Gina, who is much more well-behaved and does well at school.
- Art Shift: Dora has changed significantly in design in the past two years. Compare this video from 2014 to this video from 2016.
- Breakout Character: The second most well-known character in the GoAnimate world.
- Butt-Monkey: For similar reasons to Caillou; characters largely don't enjoy having her around.
- Calling the Old Man Out: Dora attempts to stand up to her parents in some videos, to varying levels of success. (Usually, they don't work.)
- Creepy Child: To an extent.
- Cute and Psycho: Not to Caillou's extent, though.
- Cute Bruiser: Just as strong as Caillou and just as cute.
- Depending on the Artist: Her general appearance depends on the user.
- Depending on the Writer: As you can see from the two pictures of Dora to the right, there are many different ways Dora appears in the grounded videos. Her design varies wildly across many videos, depending on how much the user wants her to look like her TV counterpart or not.
- Distaff Counterpart: To Caillou.
- Embarrassing Nickname: Often gets called 'Dora The Motherfucking Explorer' by her parents.
- Enfante Terrible: Not as much as Caillou is, but she is known to be violent.
- Even Evil Has Loved Ones: She and Caillou tend to be good friends.
- Evil Has a Bad Sense of Humor: The pranks she pulls are extremely dangerous, but she finds them funny.
- Evil Knockoff: Thanks to the two differentiating designs, the original Dora design is usually referred to as 'Fake Dora'.
- Evil Laugh: 'Mwoo-harharharharharharharhar-ha-ha.'
- Freudian Excuse: Her reason for troublemaking is her parents abusing her.
- Gone Horribly Wrong/Hoist by His Own Petard: Dora's school pranks tend to backfire on her horribly, whether directly or indirectly.
- Informed Ability: Dora's trademark exploring is largely ignored unless it's the focus of the plot of a grounded video.
- In-Series Nickname: Her parents call her 'Dora The Motherfucking Explorer.'
- Jerkass: Like all troublemakers.
- Jerkass Woobie: Dora is a troublemaker, though she can be sympathized with because of how unfair she gets treated.
- Kids Are Cruel: Mean to other students and is constantly pranking them.
- Mean Boss: Often is this towards Boots if he's present in a video.
- Never My Fault: In samster5677's videos, Dora is convinced that Gina deserves all the attacks that she has been given and that she (Dora) shouldn't be punished for it. Later videos has her convinced that all of her punishments are this and that her mother treats her unfairly. To be quite fair, it's hard to tell who is in the right in that case.
- Nightmare Fuel Station Attendant: Lots of characters get spooked by her actions, even if they aren't so bad.
- Pet the Dog: Dora is evil, but does have kind moments.
- Pint-Sized Powerhouse: Despite being a little girl, Dora is capable of hospitalizing people she beats up, moving large objects like 1,500 pound balls with ease, and destroying buildings single-handedly. (Though the last case is seen across many troublemakers.)
- The Prankster: Dora has an affinity for pulling pranks, almost all of which backfire on her spectacularly.
- Phrase Catcher: 'Dora the Motherfucking Explorer'.
- Ship Tease: With Caillou.
- Slapstick Knows No Gender: Dora gets injured by her own tricks at times.
- Super-Strong Child: She can life heavy objects and is able to break people's bones easily.
- The Dog Bites Back: Often in Deconstruction videos or videos involving her where she isn't the target.
- The Woobie: Because of how many bad things happen to her, she can be seen as this.
- Throw the Dog a Bone: Often gets this in deconstruction videos or videos involving her where she isn't the target.
- Took a Level in Jerkass:
- Just like Caillou, she's not the plucky, happy girl you know.
- An example contained within the grounded videos themselves can be found in the user adamkleinschmidt2003's portrayal of Dora, who was notable as one of the grounded genre's biggest Jerkass Woobies in many of his early videos. Later videos have his interpretation of Dora acting a lot less sympathetic and being much more unrepentant/belligerent when caught.
- Took a Level in Kindness: In deconstruction videos, or videos involving her where she isn't the target, she comes off as a bit nicer.
- Troubling Unchildlike Behavior: Too many to list.
- Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds: You'd probably be a prankster if you were abused by your parents.
- Would Harm a Senior: Has no qualms with attacking her Grandma.
- Unexplained Accent: She speaks with an American accent despite her parents and Grandma having Spanish accents.
Dora's mother, nicknamed Elena or Veena, is the most common character seen to punish Dora. She is shown to have a Hair-Trigger Temper and is annoyed fairly easily, and sometimes crosses the line when punishing her daughter. Dora's father, who is often nicknamed Miguel or Cole, is shown to be marginally less harsh, but still plenty verbally abusive to Dora.
- Abusive Parents: In several videos, but most notably Samster5677's series. Mami in particular is often shown to be an extremely abusive mother who is quick to ground Dora the second she screws up and sometimes will even tell Dora to her face that she wishes Dora were dead.
- Adaptational Villainy: It's to be expected, since they are the parents of a troublemaker in this series.
- Angrish: Like Boris, Mami and Papi are shown to use 'OH OH OH OH OH OH OH OH OH OH OH OH OH!!!' when giving out to Dora. Because of Cole's thick Spanish accent, his rendition of this phrase sounds more like 'OCK OCK OCK OCK OCK OCK OCK OCK OCK OCK OCK!!!' instead.
- Ax-Crazy: Most of the Punishment Day videos involving Mami portray her as this.
- Badass Mustache: Miguel/Cole has one.
- Bare Your Midriff: Elena.
- Berserk Button: Dora's trademark exploring is a big pet peeve of theirs.
- Boomerang Bigot: They often attack Dora for being Mexican, despite also being Mexican.
- The Bully: They both are well known for their abuse of their daughter.
- Catchphrase: 'Dora the Mexican/Motherfucking Explorer!'
- Depending on the Writer: Some users show them as okay parents, but most others show them as evil ones.
- Distaff Counterpart: They are both respectively ones to Boris and Doris.
- Expy: Mami is very similar to Boris in ways, right down to the point where she sometimes has a 'Teeth Girl' variant or shipped with him. Likewise, Papi is the Doris expy.
- Everyone Went to School Together: In some videos, they are shown to have gone to college with Boris and Doris.
- Fan Nickname: Elena and Veena are sometimes used as Mami's two nicknames, given she has no name. Miguel is the name typically given to Papi, though the name Cole is sometimes used as well.
- Hair-Trigger Temper: Elena
- Heel–Face Turn: Miguel does this in some videos such as Mami Gets Arrested.
- He Who Fights Monsters: They attempt to strike down Dora's villainy, even though they're just as mean as she is.
- Hypocrite: Some videos have them both insult Dora for being Hispanic, even though they are also Hispanic.
- Jerkass: They're abusive, unsympathetic, and racist to Mexicans.
- Jerkass Has a Point: Mami and Papi aren't incorrect about Dora's brattiness.
- Magnificent Moustaches of Mexico: Miguel.
- Make-Up Is Evil: Elena/Veena is an abusive mom who wears lipstick.
- Never My Fault: Elena in samster5677's videos can take this to extremes as some of Dora's actions are caused by Elena making sure that Dora's life is as miserable as possible, then being shocked when Dora responds explosively.
- Nightmare Fuel Station Attendant: They are kinda creepy.
- Satellite Character: Cole doesn't get much characterization beyond agreeing with Mami on something.
- Spicy Latina: Elena/Veena
- Tautological Templar: They have their moments.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: In the original show, Mami and Papi are shown to be level-headed parents who show great enthusiasm in Dora's exploring. However, in the videos, they are shown to hate Dora's exploring and downright hate Dora to the point they wish she never existed.
- Those Two Bad Guys: They're almost always seen standing next to each other and they are Abusive Parents.
- The Unintelligible: Most of Papi's typical voices are ones intended for Spanish dialogue, causing his dialogue to be so thickly accented that most users caption it.
- Unexplained Accent: Mami talks in a faint Indian accent.
- Would Hurt a Child: They inflict agonizing Punishment Days on Dora whenever she messes up.
- Your Cheating Heart: There are a few videos in which Elena cheats on Miguel.
Abuela Marquez
Dora's grandmother, who commonly serves as both the enabler and the Foil to Dora's actions, and is commonly seen when Dora commits a misdeed or tantrum, as well as being seen in punishment days.
- Adaptational Villainy: She's a Cool Old Lady in Dora's original show, but not here.
- Berserk Button: Never call her fat.
- Butt-Monkey: A victim of Dora's schemes.
- Everyone Calls Him 'Barkeep': Usually, everyone refers to Abuela by 'Abuela' as Dora's grandmother, much like in canon.
- Fan Nickname: If she does have a name given to her, however, Soledad is usually the name given to her if so chosen by the user. (The name coming from Abuela's usual voice setting.)
- Fat Bastard: Abuela is shown to be extremely heavyset and apathetic to things going on around her until Dora raises a stink. After which, she gets every bit as violent as Mami and Papi.
- Grumpy Old Man: She's strict and rude.
- Jerkass: Ridiculously strict, impolite, and apathetic.
- Jerkass Has a Point: Abuela makes good points on occasion.
- No Sympathy: She's apathetic to everything around her until Dora does something bad.
- Screw Politeness, I'm a Senior!: She's often rather mean spirited.
- The Mean Brit: Some videos will show her with a British accent.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: Much like her daughter, Abuela is shown to be constantly rude to Dora.
- The Unintelligible: One of her most popular voice setting is Soledad, which is a full-on Spanish accent. Due to this, Abuela is commonly subtitled for the audience.
- Unexplained Accent: Her second most popular voice 'Catherine' is a British voice, while her daughter, granddaughter and son in-law have Spanish or American accents (sometimes Indian for her daughter).
Boots
Despite the animal characters largely being not present in the grounded videos, Boots still makes appearances from time to time.
- Adaptational Villainy: Went from Dora's friend to somebody who's fine with betraying Dora.
- Demoted to Extra: Even though he still appears more often than the other animal characters (i.e. Benny, Tico, etc.), Boots, for the most part, rarely appears in the grounded videos unless a plot requires him to be present.
- Cowardly Sidekick: And not in a funny way, see Dirty Coward.
- Dirty Coward: Whenever he and Dora get caught causing trouble, Boots will ditch Dora and let her get all the punishment for it.
- The Dragon: To Dora whenever Kevin isn't playing the role.
- Everything's Better with Monkeys: Actually subverted unlike the original show.
- Et Tu, Brute?: Willing to betray Dora whenever she does something bad.
- Gonk: Owing to not being a human character like everyone else, some of his depictions can get rather odd to look at compared to everyone else.
- Jerkass: He's an awful friend to Dora, even willing to ditch Dora when something bad happens.
- Maniac Monkeys: He's a monkey and he likes causing trouble.
- Non-Human Sidekick: To Dora.
- The Starscream: The right-hand man of Dora.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: Just like everyone else.
- Those Two Bad Guys: With Dora.
- With Friends Like These...: The character dynamic between Dora and Boots becomes this in the grounded videos, to the point that Boots can and will throw Dora under the bus when she misbehaves.
Swiper
![Goanimate Goanimate](https://d2qrjeyl4jwu9j.cloudfront.net/static/e60e6efd1cf320eb/school/img/homepage/img_videomaker_cw.jpg)
Another of the animal characters who will appear in the Dora videos if so chosen by the user.
- Adaptational Badass: Is a far more capable character here than in his home series.
- Adaptational Villainy: In the main series, Swiper would never go as far as killing Dora.
- Demoted to Extra: Like Boots, Swiper only appears every so often in the grounded videos, usually only when a video's plot requires him to be there.
- Jerkass: He often exhibits genuine malice in the grounded videos. (Especially towards Dora.)
- Swiper, No Swiping!: Well duh, he's the Trope Namer.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: Swiper was merely a kleptomaniac with sympathetic qualities in the original Dora series. In the grounded videos, however, Swiper has no qualms about actually hurting Dora and is sometimes genuinely malicious.
- Would Hit a Girl: He has no qualms with harming Dora.
- Would Hurt a Child: Kills Dora or just hurts her often.
A blue train, often stated to be 'fake' for one reason or another. Because of this, he's often shown as a target for grounding in Thomas-related videos.
- Adaptational Villainy: Like all the other troublemakers.
- Berserk Button: As this video shows, he HATES being called slow.
- Body Horror: Insomuch as it can apply to a train. He often gets recycled into other, more mundane trains.
- Butt-Monkey: Is often bullied by other train characters.
- Jerkass Woobie: He is an abrasive character, but with everyone picking on him and calling him a 'fake train', can you really blame him?
- Special Effects Failure: Because of the limitations of GoAnimate, he's often portrayed as a white-skinned human with a blue and cyan gi, blue hair, a blue chef's hat, and gray shoes; similar to the Thomas & Friends characters whenever they appear.
Original Dora-related characters
Miss Christina
In lieu of having Miss Martin as her teacher at school, Dora has her own teacher in the form of Miss Christina. She is commonly depicted as an African-American woman in a red dress with white ruffles who is frequently exasperated with Dora's actions and pranks.
- Angry Black Man: She can fly off the handle pretty quickly when her students mess up.
- Berserk Button:
- Do not misbehave in her class.
- May God have mercy on your soul if you call her the n-word.
- Butt-Monkey: Dora's pranks tend to influence Miss Christina in many negative ways.
- Canon Foreigner: An original GoAnimate character.
- Cluster F-Bomb: Downplayed. While she often uses 'fuck', it is often when she is mad, and hardly uses it when in a normal attitude.
- Depending on the Writer: Her appearance tends to differentiate between users and even people who use her. Examples include if her dress has a halterneck-like strap or fluff, alongside a pink bangle on her right arm or not. Her shade of hair color, while usually chocolate brown, also differentiates at random.
- Happy Holidays Dress: Her dress has a very 'Mrs. Claus'-esque design to it, right down to the fluff at the hems.
- Jerkass Has a Point: Any sympathy can be given to her since Dora is a true jerk.
- Jerkass Woobie: Miss Christina is a firm, crude teacher but she doesn't really deserve what Dora does to her.
- The Mean Brit: Downplayed. A better teacher than Miss Martin, but still kinda mean. And she's British.
- Sadist Teacher: Somewhat downplayed, surprisingly enough. By and large, Miss Cristina is far less of an Evil Teacher than Miss Martin, and, despite not liking Dora very much, usually treats Dora the same as the other students until Dora causes trouble. However, she does have her moments where she actively antagonizes Dora, though they happen less often than Miss Martin.
- Slapstick Knows No Gender: Miss Christina is put on the receiving end of pain caused by Dora's tricks.
- Stern Teacher: Very strict to her students, especially Dora.
- Teacher's Pet: Gina Delgado is her favorite student, to Dora's chagrin.
- Zettai Ryouiki: She's seen to be wearing Grade C boots.
Gina Delgado
Gina Delgado is the favourite student of Miss Christina as commonly depicted in several videos. In comparison to Dora, Gina is shown to be an extremely intelligent, polite and hardworking child, and as such, she is rarely seen being punished or grounded. Due to this, Dora is commonly shown to harbour a grudge against her, and is constantly shown attempting to find several ways to dethrone Gina from her spot.
- The Ace: She gets A's in every single subject.
- Always Someone Better: Is this to Dora.
- Canon Foreigner: Another original GoAnimate character.
- The Chew Toy: As mentioned above, there are several videos where Gina is victim to actions committed by Dora to the point where she is even seen being killed.
- Designated Villain: Seen as this to Dora, when she is in question a much nicer and hardworking student than her.
- Nice Girl: Very well-mannered and nice. She doesn't always blow her stack when wronged like everyone else does outside of rare occasions, and she rarely rubs her high-ranking status as a school student in Dora's face at all.
- Not So Above It All: There are those rare videos where she isn't quite so nice and is even the troublemaker.
- Only Sane Man: Out of most of the characters in the 'Dora Gets Grounded' series, Gina is one of the nicest characters, and is rarely seen screwing up or getting grounded. However, it is not uncommon to see videos of her being killed or being The Chew Toy to Dora's actions.
- Slapstick Knows No Gender: She is the often the butt of Dora's pranks. And even if she's not the main target of Dora's tricks, she'll still get injured by them.
- Teacher's Pet: In comparison to Dora, she is the favoured student of Miss Christina.
- They Killed Kenny Again: No matter how many times she is killed, she is almost always seen alive in future videos.
- The Woobie: Since she's the only sane character who gets killed or pranked by Dora.
The Glover Family
General
- Adaptational Villainy: Being 'baby show' characters in the grounded videos, it's pretty much a given.
- Butt-Monkey / The Chew Toy: Lots of bad stuff befall them.
- Darker and Edgier: As usual.
- Dysfunctional Family / Big, Screwed-Up Family: Like most families in GoAnimate.
- Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: April and Bobby are both the responsible to Little Bill's foolish.
- Jerkass: Some of them can be less jerky than other members of the family.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: It's GoAnimate.
Completing the 'baby show character' trifecta in the grounded videos is Little Bill. Much like Caillou and Dora, Little Bill's characterization as a curious youngster intrigued by the world around him is ignored in favor of him making his peers lives a living you-know-what which, of course, leads to his grounding.
- Adaptational Villainy: A good kid in his actual show but not here.
- Angry Black Man: Little Bill is black and also bratty.
- Annoying Younger Sibling: Towards April and Bobby.
- Bald of Evil: Little Bill is bald and he's a troublemaker.
- Berserk Button: Don't Call him Little Pill!
- Black Best Friend: To Caillou, in some videos.
- Bratty Half-Pint: A classic example.
- Big Brother Bully: Inverted, he is a little brother bully towards Bobby and April.
- Butt-Monkey: Like every troublemaker out there.
- Cute Bruiser: He's cute but don't be fooled. Little Bill is totally strong.
- Darker and Edgier: He is a murderer in GoAnimate in contrast to his original counterpart.
- Enfante Terrible: Maybe not as much as the other troublemakers but still pretty evil.
- Evil Brit: Speaks with a British accent, and a brat.
- Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: The foolish to April and Bobby's responsible.
- Freudian Excuse: Being mistreated by his parents.
- Hilariously Abusive Childhood: His parents make his life a living hell.
- Jerkass: All troublemakers have this trait.
- Jerkass Woobie: Goes without saying now.
- Kids Are Cruel: No, really?
- Reality Subtext: Averted, actually. Little Bill was just as much of a grounded video target as he was after Bill Cosby's scandals and subsequent end of career.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: He's not the innocent kid you knew him for in his original show.
- Unexplained Accent: For reasons unknown, much like Daisy, he speaks with a distinctive British accent (usually the Brian or Lawrence voices are used) while the rest of his family (except Brenda) tend to speak in American accent. He could have gotten it from his mother, though.
- Villain Team-Up: Some videos have him as part of Caillou's circle of trouble-making friends alongside Dora.
- Would Hit a Girl: Just ask April.
Big Bill and Brenda Glover
Big Bill and Brenda, as in actual canon, are Little Bill's parents, and, as such are the ones who ground and punish Little Bill the most often whenever Little Bill acts up in these videos.
- Angry Black Man: Big Bill is black guy with a temper problem. Same goes to Brenda.
- Abusive Parents: Unlike Caillou and Dora's families where usually only one of their parents is violent to almost Ax-Crazy levels, both Big Bill and Brenda are equally violent and abusive toward Little Bill whenever he acts up.
- Adaptational Villainy: Like everybody.
- Bald of Evil: Big Bill's bald and is a pointlessly harsh man.
- Berserk Button: Some videos have hamburgers be this for Big Bill... for some reason.
- The Bully: They all gang up on Little Bill.
- Darker and Edgier: Per the norm.
- Does Not Like Spam: Big Bill hates hamburgers.
- Even Evil Has Loved Ones: They do seem to love April and Bobby.
- Jerkass: They are all-around assholes.
- Jerkass Has a Point: They are right about most things.
- Nightmare Fuel Station Attendant: Big Bill and Brenda are both scary, but they don't always intend to.
- Sassy Black Woman: Brenda.
- The Mean Brit: Brenda.
- Tautological Templar: Occasionally.
- Unexplained Accent: Much like Little Bill, Brenda speaks with a British accent.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: Almost goes without saying at this point.
April and Bobby
- Butt-Monkey/ The Chew Toy: They get a lot of bad luck, normally caused by Little Bill.
- Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: They're both the responsible to Little Bill's foolish.
- Hero Antagonist: Of course, they aren't as bad as other older siblings.
- Slapstick Knows No Gender: April is hurt by Little Bill constantly.
- Adaptational Jerkass: In the same vein as how Caillou's grandparents and Abuela Marquez, she is portrayed as more of a Jerkass compared to her canon counterpart who is a Cool Old Lady.
- Grumpy Old Man: Elderly and cranky.
- Screw Politeness, I'm a Senior!: She is elderly and is a complete jerk!
- Took a Level in Jerkass: Just like Dora's grandmother, Alice goes from being a kind, sweet and cool old lady in the original show, to being an awful and mean-spirited old crone who is overly harsh and abusive.
The Johnson family
Gianna Johnson is the third child of Paul and Susan and not much younger than her older siblings. However, she is very bratty and also abusive. Despite her age, she still likes Strawberry Shortcake.
The Smith family
- Badass Family: They are all awesome in their own ways.
- Dysfunctional Family: Downplayed.
- Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: Ivy and Eric are both the responsible to David's foolish.
Eric Smith tends to be regarded as the main character of the Smith family grounded videos, despite not always being the one getting grounded. His typical depiction is that of a bespectacled red-haired boy wearing a blue shirt and green shorts. Some videos have him owning a Latios that helps around the house or punishes troublemakers.
- Berserk Button:
- Don't mess with his Latios.
- Don't make fun of his glasses, it won't be pretty.
- Badass Adorable: He is good-looking, and he owns a Latios that he knows how to train and control.
- Beware the Nice Ones: Get him mad and he'll either sic his Latios on you or fry you.
- Blue Is Heroic: His blue shirt.
- Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: The responsible, along with Ivy, to David's foolish.
- Generation Xerox: He appears to inherit his rounded glasses from his parents and his hair colour from Diesel.
- Megane: He wears red glasses and looks attractive.
- Mon: Eric is sometimes shown owning a Latios.
- Nice Guy: Videos that don't have him as the troublemaker tend to have him as this instead, with him being a well-behaved student at school who is quick to warn teachers of trouble and being well-liked by his family.
- Red Is Heroic: His red specs.
- Specs of Awesome: Eric has glasses and is a badass kid.
- Not So Above It All: He does have his moments of trouble-making.
- Recurring Extra: Being one of the more popular original GoAnimate characters, Eric makes frequent appearances in many different users' videos.
David Smith
The presumably older sibling of both Eric and Ivy, and is one of the main characters of the Smith family grounded videos, and the most frequent target for grounding. He looks almost identical to his brother, the only differences are that David is depicted as being taller, having brown hair instead of red, lacking glasses. He wears a cyan and red collared shirt with a red stripe in the middle, denim blue shorts, and light blue shorts.
- Bad People Abuse Animals: Some videos show David tasering, hurting and killing Latios, only for him to be fine in the end after David is grounded.
- Big Brother Bully: To Eric and Ivy, constantly doing awful things to them.
- The Chew Toy: Several videos depict him getting severely beaten up physically by Latios and evenattacked by the latter's attacks (most commonly Luster Purge).
- Evil Has a Bad Sense of Humor: To a degree.
- Evil Sounds Deep: When assigned with the Vocalware David voice, his voice comes off as a lot more gravely and low compared to the Voiceforge David voice.
- Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: The foolish to Eric and Ivy's responsible.
- Hilariously Abusive Childhood: Courtesy of his parents.
- Jerkass: He abuses animals, and is mean to his younger siblings.
- Nightmare Fuel Station Attendant: David has his videos of scaring other people.
- Pet the Dog: David does get his fair share of not being a grounded victim, however.
- Stun Guns: Owns a taser.
- Teens Are Monsters: David's a teenager, and he is an animal-abusing meanie.
- Token Evil Teammate: Displays a noticeable meaner streak than the rest of his family.
- The Un-Favourite: His parents like his younger siblings more than him.
- Weapon of Choice: His taser.
- Young Gun: Often portrayed as owning a taser.
Ivy Smith
The younger sibling of Eric and David, and is one of the main characters of the Smith family grounded videos, and the second-most frequent grounding victim. Her typical appearance is that of a Animesque Lil' Peepz character with pink bob-cut hair and amber eyes (although her eye shape differs throughout models) wearing a pink headband and a pink Sailor Fuku.
- Annoying Younger Sibling: Downplayed. While some of her depictions show her as this, she is oftentimes depicted as being a more neutral character until she messes up.
- Butt-Monkey: Most of her bad luck is caused by David.
- Depending on the Writer: Her appearance and personality differentiates between users.
- Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: The responsible, along with Eric to David's foolish.
- Moe: Her design.
- Nice Girl: When she isn't being an Annoying Younger Sibling.
- Slapstick Knows No Gender: Courtesy of David.
- Non-Standard Character Design: Her model is a Lil' Peepz character, unlike the rest of her family.
- You Gotta Have Blue Hair: Has pink hair.
Diesel and Kate Smith
The parents of the aforementioned characters above, and the main parents of the Smith family grounded video. Kate is depicted as a tall brunette-haired woman wearing pink spectacles, a blue layered shirt, jeans and light blue heels. Diesel is depicted as a fairly heavyset red haired man with red glasses, a green polo shirt, and jeans.
- Abusive Parents: Somewhat downplayed in the fact that neither are as aggressive as the other parents, but can still cross the line (especially when Latios is involved in punishments).
- All There in the Manual: Word of God from various users claim that Kate and Diesel are actually David and Eric's adoptive parents, although it is never usually talked about.
- Berserk Button: Harming Latios is this to Kate.
- Chubby Mama, Skinny Papa: Inverted. Diesel is Chubby Papa to Kate's Skinny Mama.
- Depending on the Writer: For Kate, her portrayal in videos as either being a level-headed mother (e.g. Officerpoop247's videos) or just as wicked as several other parents (e.g. louielouie95's videos) depends on the user. The same largely goes for Diesel, as well.
- Good Parents: Zig-zagged. Even though they're both nice most of the time, other video makers depict them as abusive.
- Meganekko: Kate.
Latios
The Smith family pet. As his name suggests, he is from Pokémon. Has a younger sister named Latias.- A Dog Named 'Dog': A Latios named Latios.
- Blue Is Heroic: His color scheme is blue.
- Butt-Monkey: Often gets injured by David.
- Cool Pet: He has powerful attack moves, can fly, and is loyal.
- Flight: He can fly, just like every Latios out there.

- Nice Guy: He'll help out those in need no matter what.
- Signature Move: Luster Purge.
- Team Pet: For the Smiths.
- Undying Loyalty: To Eric.
- A Dog Named 'Dog': A Latias named Latias.
- Cool Pet: Like her older brother.
- Flight: She can fly, just like Latios.
- GIS Syndrome: Depicted as an actual image of Latias from the anime.
- Nice Girl: Latias is a helpful character.
- Red Is Heroic: Is a red Pokemon.
- Team Pet: The second family pet of the Smiths.
- Signature Move: Mist Ball.
- Slapstick Knows No Gender: She has been beat up or just pranked by David.
The Cooks
Loosely based on a real life person, Warren Cook is the name given to the Mac Guy default character. Warren is a character who loves Disney (to the detriment of his father Alan) and has a penchant for making fake VHS openings.
- Butt-Monkey: Warren never hears the end of it when it comes to his VHS openings.
- Catchphrase: 'I'm going to make the VHS opening to [Insert film or TV series here] from [Year], Real, not fake.'
- Cloud Cuckoo Lander: Warren takes his fake VHS openings very seriously.
- Companion Cube: His fake VHS openings.
- Felony Misdemeanor: Without fail, Warren will get grounded for making any sort of VHS opening.
- Hilariously Abusive Childhood: Subverted.
- Missing Mom: Warren's mother is never seen.
- Nice Guy: Much like Macusoper, he can come off as this in videos that don't have him as the target. And even then, he's not as bad as other troublemakers in the videos that do have him as the target.
- Reality Subtext: Warren is loosely based on a user/troll the GoAnimate community had a fight with some years back of the same name and the same hobby.
- Recurring Extra: Across many videos.
- Serious Business: When it comes to his fake VHS openings.
- The Dog Bites Back: Often in videos where Alan is the target.
- They Killed Kenny Again: Warren can and has been killed just for making fake VHS openings, only to return every time.
- Throw the Dog a Bone: Sometimes, he has been praised for his editing skills, and occasionally gets a good score on a test or behaviour card day.
- You All Look Familiar: Being one of the stock models of the program, plenty of characters that look like him appear in several non-related videos, although the model is generally well known for being Warren Cook's.
Alan Cook
Alan, Warren Cook's father and the Foil to Warren, routinely stops Warren from making his fake VHS openings and inevitably grounds Warren for doing so. Unlike Warren, Alan hates Disney and will restrict Warren's access to things made by the company the first chance he gets.
- Abusive Parents: Not only does Alan ground Warren for the fairly innocuous activity of making fake VHS openings, but usually Alan will also punish Warren by making him give up all his Disney related material, making Warren wear nappies, and/or having Warren's friends come to yell at Warren.
- Berserk Button: He hates Disney and fake VHS openings.
- The Bully: Like all parents in the GoAnimate universe.
- Encyclopaedic Knowledge: He knows the correct release date of every film Warren makes a fake VHS opening of, even for the most unheard of films.
- Fan Hater: Alan does not understand why Warren likes Disney, and the first thing he'll do when punishing Warren is take away all of his Disney related merchandise.
- Holier Than Thou: Like every adult in the GoAnimate world.
- Hunk: He uses the model of the default 'muscled' base character, albeit with the shirt color changed to cyan (sometimes various other shades of blue, too).
- Jerkass: Since nearly every parent character has this personality, it is to be expected.
- Karma Houdini Warranty: Many Deconstruction videos are fond of this trope.
- In 'Warren makes a fake Frozen vhs opening and gets grounded', he ends up being subjected to Black Comedy Rape by the infamous Barney Bunch depiction of Drew Pickles to teach him a lesson for grounding his son over something as petty as VHS openings.
- In 'Warren Cook's Dad Makes A Critical Error In Judgement', being outsmarted by his son causes him to attempt to ground Warren with the same punishments he's already given him before blowing up.
- You All Look Familiar: As mentioned above, his model is a Palette Swap of one of the stock models of the program.
Wardrobe Cooking/Warrun Cookie
AM WARREN COOK AND YOU DISRESPECTED MY OPINION NO-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O
The Uolliac version of Warren, Wardrobe Cooking (also known as Warrun Cookie) appears in several satirical and unironic videos alike. Like Uolliac, he first debuted in NotSmirk's video series.- Berserk Button: DO NOT disrespect his opinion.
- Big 'NO!': Prone to doing this, even in unfitting moments.
- Cruel and Unusual Death: Constantly thins out of existence in some videos (such as this video).
- Depending on the Writer: His design varies from user to user, some using the design used in the picture provided, others either using Warren Cook's normal model with his facial features rotated or simply having normal Warren Cook crying constantly like the Uolliac and the Uolliac and the Uolliac.
- Distressed Dude: In a few videos, he's treated like an artifact that must be saved from unusual locations.
- Flanderization: He's basically the Flanderized version of Warren, but given some powers that make him equal to Uolliac.
- Gag Nose: Has a huge nose which dominates half his face.
- Gonk: Along with his over-sized nose, Cooking has an upside down mouth, and either has tiny beady eyes or eyes really close together, unlike other characters.
- Recurring Extra: Tends to appear a lot in Uolliac-themed videos.
- Verbal Tic: Whereas Uolliac has 'WEEA-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-AH', Cooking has 'NO-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O'.
- You All Look Familiar: It's Warren/Mac Guy, but with a distorted face.
The Dawson Gals
One of the two Dawson sisters, Erika is the more soft-spoken of the two and wears glasses. Erika is the sibling most commonly portrayed as the well-behaved one, though she has had her share of trouble-making.- Bare Your Midriff: Some depictions of Erika have her like this, such as in the picture on the right.
- Cat Girl: In Rangeltoons' videos.
- Depending on the Writer: Whether Erika is the main trouble-maker of her videos or Zara is. For example, in Adult Mall and Colonel Michael's videos, Erika can be a Jerkass to Zara, but in Cartoonist Kid's videos, Erika was kind-hearted, sweet, flirty, and cute.
- Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: The responsible to Zara's foolish.
- Meganekko: She's an attractive looking girl with glasses.
- Nice Girl: Whenever she isn't the trouble maker, she is a sweet girl.
- Not So Above It All: She is far from immune from getting grounded or just being a Jerkass, perhaps even more so than Eric Smith.
- Ship Tease: With Eric Smith in videos in which they appear together.
- Sibling Rivalry: Sometimes is depicted as having one with Zara.
- Specs of Awesome: Erika wears glasses and is kind.
- Innocent Fanservice Girl: Alot of times.
The other of the two Dawson siblings. Zara is commonly portrayed as the more rambunctious and troublesome of the two, and is very much a Valley Girl. She does have her moments of maturity though, particularly whenever Erika is the troublesome sibling.
- Butt-Monkey/The Chew Toy: Not much goes right for her.
- Depending on the Writer: As with Erika, whether Zara is the trouble-maker causing trouble for Erika or is Erika's victim tends to vary among users.
- Foil: To Erika. Though their roles as the grounding victim tend to be remarkably interchangeable.
- Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: The foolish to Erika's responsible.
- Green and Mean: Most of her clothing consists of green, and she's by far the meaner one of the two.
- Jerkass: In the videos where she actually is the troublemaker. And even then, she's more naughty than her sister Erika.
- Sibling Rivalry: With Erika sometimes.
- Sibling Yin-Yang: Erika is a good-natured girl, but Zara is a naughty troublemaker.
- Slapstick Knows No Gender: Zara is female but is hapless.
- Spoiled Brat: Of the two siblings, Zara tends to be portrayed as the troublemaker the most often.
- Teens Are Monsters: The more troublesome of the Dawson duo.
- Valley Girl: Has the 'Princess' voice, so she has a voice like one.
- Cat Girl: In Rangeltoons.
The Busters
Macusoper Busters
Macusoper Busters is the name given to the default bodyguard character included in the program. Macusoper is the teenage son to the PC Guy, nicknamed Diesel Busters, and is shown to constantly be getting in trouble at school, whether on purpose or for reasons beyond his control.
- All of the Other Reindeer: Macusoper is usually shown to be the least popular kid at school. Even his teacher and principal seem to hold a grudge against him for whatever reason.
- Butt-Monkey: Big time. Some of the trouble he gets into at school isn't even his fault and he'll still get suspended.
- Cool Shades: He wears sunglasses.
- The Dog Bites Back: Often in videos where Diesel Busters is the target.
- Hair-Trigger Temper: A few users have him be easy to lose his temper. (Oftentimes his peers bait him into doing so just to get him in trouble.)
- Missing Mom: Much like Warren Cook, Macusoper's mother is not usually seen. Subverted as some users do give him a mother.
- Nice Guy: Is sometimes portrayed as this in videos that don't have him as the target.
- No Indoor Voice: One of several characters to have the Kidaroo voice setting as his usual voice.
- Original Generation: A wholly original character.
- Palette Swap: Some videos feature different versions of Macusoper, such as one clad in yellow called 'Pacusoper'.
- Throw the Dog a Bone: Often gets this in videos where he isn't the target.
- The Woobie: He always gets in trouble for things that aren't even his fault, so he's quite pitiable.
- You All Look Familiar: Being one of the stock characters included with the program, plenty of bodyguard characters that look like Macusoper have come and gone.
Diesel Busters
Diesel Busters is a name given to the default PC Guy character included in the program. Diesel is the father of Macusoper Busters and, of course, is not the best father to him.
- Abusive Parents: Diesel almost always physically punishes Macusoper when he gets in trouble.
- Alternative Character Interpretation: Some videos depict him as being actually rather kind and thoughtful.
- The Bully: Again, it's GoAnimate.
- Big Bad: Of Kirby The Superstar Creator's videos.
- Evil Twin: Apparently, his Alternative Character Interpretation '(Nice) Diesel Busters the (Calming or Nice) PC Guy' is this in MacusoperAndLPSLover's videos.
- Four Eyes, Zero Soul: He wears glasses, and he's a very unpleasant man.
- Holier Than Thou: While everyone of Macusoper's peers fail to notice their own flaws (while constantly berating Macusoper for his own), it's especially evident with Diesel Busters.
- Jerkass: Highly unpleasant.
- Karma Houdini Warranty: He does have his moments where karma does bite him in the ass.
- Nightmare Fuel Station Attendant: Everyone is scared of him.
- Tautological Templar: He believes everything he does is good just because he is 'good'.
- Would Hurt a Child: He injures his son Macusoper on a frequent basis.
- You All Look Familiar: A consequence of being another stock character within the program. Many other PC Guys have appeared in videos without them actually being Diesel Busters himself.
Nice Diesel Busters AKA Diesel The Calming PC Guy
A Good Counterpart of Diesel Busters who sometimes appears when the normal version of Diesel is portrayed as an antagonist.- Good Counterpart: He's called 'Nice Diesel Busters' for a reason.
- Nice Guy: What else can you say about someone who will come and calm you down or cheer you up if you're feeling sad or scared?
- No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: See Beware the Nice Ones.
- Specs of Awesome: A friendly, comforting, and gentle man with glasses.
- Megane: He wears glasses.
- Token Good Teammate: He is the most selfless of the Busters family.
The Read Family
Arthur Read
While not featuring as prominently in the grounded videos as Caillou, Dora, or even Little Bill, (and despite not technically being a 'baby show character') Arthur is another fairly frequently appearing kid's show character in the grounded videos. As can be expected, he's not the Nice Guy that he is in his show and regularly causes trouble in the videos that he appears in.
- Adaptational Villainy: Not the responsible, well-mannered boy you saw on his show.
- Bald of Evil: Shown with Charlie Brown Baldness and is the main villain of his grounded series.
- Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: His usual portrayal has him be fairly close to his usual self until he is wronged in some way, after which he becomes a huge jerk, often with a foul-mouth to go with it.
- Big Brother Bully: Towards D.W.
- Butt-Monkey: Every troublemaking kid is this.
- Charlie Brown Baldness: Appears to have this in most Comedy World depictions.
- Darker and Edgier: Arthur was a good boy in his original show, but not here.
- Demoted to Extra: Possibly due to a mostly negative reaction to the 'Arthur Gets Grounded' videos (likely because of the fact that Arthur, like it or not, is a largely beloved show with a large Periphery Demographic), Arthur is gradually becoming a less frequent grounded target and only makes sporadic appearances in grounded videos nowadays.
- Expy: Of Caillou, somewhat. Arthur sets himself apart from Caillou by typically being more of a loud-mouth rather than being Ax-Crazy.
- Evil Brit: Often has Lawrence or Brian as his default voice setting.
- Evil Has a Bad Sense of Humor: To a certain degree.
- Freudian Excuse: While Arthur tends to come off as a unpleasant person to be around, some videos show that it's possibly as a result of abuse from his parents.
- Four Eyes, Zero Soul: A foul-mouthed brat with glasses.
- Hilariously Abusive Childhood: Of course.
- Gonk: Attempts to emulate Arthur's ears in the Comedy World theme tend to come off as...weird. (And the same goes for the rest of his family as well, though it looks especially weird with Arthur.)
- Jerkass: Once he gets set off, Arthur becomes a thoroughly ill-mannered potty-mouthed kid.
- Jerkass Woobie: Can you really blame him for being bad with the crap he takes from his parents?
- Kids Are Cruel: Usually towards DW.
- Nightmare Fuel Station Attendant: Isn't it obvious?
- Sir Swears-a-Lot: In some videos, Arthur is shown swearing like a sailor when he winds up not getting his way.
- Sophisticated as Hell: He can be extremely rude, but never strays from talking in a distinctive South-Eastern English accent.
- Spoiled Brat: To the point that D.W. pales in comparison.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: Per the norm.
- Took a Level in Kindness: Again, per the norm with unironic ungrounding videos and deconstructions.
D.W. Read
D.W. is, of course, Arthur's younger sister. Crazy as it sounds, she is fairly rarely portrayed as a trouble-maker and instead is usually Arthur's target for trouble-making.
- Adaptational Heroism: Odd as it may seem, D.W. actually comes off as the most tolerable out of the Reads instead of the other way around.
- Berserk Button: Do not feed her spinach.
- The Chew Toy: Rarely leaves a video unscathed.
- Expy: Of Rosie in terms of how often she is The Chew Toy in the Arthur Gets Grounded videos.
- Nice Girl: Nicer than Arthur, at least.
- Not So Above It All: Despite being less of a troublemaker than her brother, she does get her moments of trouble-making.
- Only Sane Man: The rest of the Reads are mean-spirited psychos. DW, on the other hand, is the least mean and calmest of the Reads.
- Spoiled Brat: Bizarrely subverted; Arthur seems to be the brat of the family in the grounded videos instead of her.
- Took a Level in Kindness: No, that was not a typo. D.W. is rarely ever shown being a brat and is usually just shown minding her own business when Arthur acts up. She and Arthur may as well have switched bodies before becoming part of the grounded videos.
- Token Good Teammate: Arthur is a jerk, his parents are abusive, but DW is, shockingly enough, more mellow compared to anyone else in her family.
- Valley Girl: The Princess voice-setting is one of D.W.'s more common voice settings.
David and Jane Read
Arthur and D.W.'s parents. David and Jane, like other parents, mostly exist to punish Arthur (and occasionally D.W.) whenever he/she misbehaves.
- Abusive Parents: David tends to come off as the worst of the two, however, being violent towards Arthur on occasion and grounding Arthur for really petty reasons. (Even innocuous things as playing a certain video game or hanging out with his friends.)
- Adaptational Villainy: Like most parent characters.
- The Bully: Arthur gets tormented by them.
- Darker and Edgier: In canon they were nice people, but here they are bad parents.
- Expy: David comes off as a less Ax-Crazy Boris. Jane shares a few similarities with Doris, as well, but she gives out much fewer Throw the Dog a Bone moments. Sometimes both parents even share the same voice settings as Boris and Doris.
- Hair-Trigger Temper: Both parents, but especially David.
- Jerkass: They get mad over tiny things, and inflict rather painful punishments on Arthur.
- “Stop Having Fun” Guy: In-Universe.
- The Stool Pigeon: David is sometimes shown calling other kids' parents and getting them grounded just for being around Arthur, much less trouble-making with him.
- Tautological Templar: They think they are good characters, but they really are not.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: Canonically, Jane and David were nice (if a bit useless) parents. Here they're every bit as mean as the other parents.
Baby Kate
The baby sister of Arthur and DW.- Demoted to Extra: Hardly even appears in the grounded videos with Arthur. Or anyone else.
- Living Prop: She doesn't even do much in the scenes she does appear in. She's just there.
- The Speechless: Never says anything. Justified, as she's a baby.
Dylan characters
Created by TheJoJuan4444, Dylan was formerly a troublemaker, but then became a good guy, has his own series and related movies.
- Butt-Monkey: Formerly a character with grounded videos, now has a different set of videos.
- Depending on the Writer: Some video makers show him as still a bad kid.
- Hero of Another Story: He has his own series of non-grounded adventures, and even 6 movies.
- Nice Guy: After he Took a Level in Kindness.
- Official Couple: With Emily.
- Took a Level in Kindness: He became one of the good guys in later videos.
Emily Movolvoski
some caption text
- Butt-Monkey: Whenever she's the target of grounded videos.
- Cat Girl: She does have neko ears but doesn't usually have neko girl traits.
- Nice Girl: Most of the time, Emily is a caring girl.
- Official Couple: With Dylan.
- Took a Level in Kindness: In later videos.
- Bare Your Midriff: In Rangeltoons.
Scooby-Doo characters
The protagonist of the Scooby-Doo series of videos, a rising trend series of videos started by Samster5677. Unlike in the series, Fred and his team's trademark myth-hunting is ignored, and his leadership has been replaced by an ignorant, volatile-tempered drunkard who has no problem with being violent to his friends.
- Adaptational Villainy: Has nothing in common with his TV show counterpart.
- The Alcoholic: He is commonly shown either referencing or drinking beer. In fact, this is possibly what explains his violent temperament in the videos.
- Ax-Crazy: As mentioned above, he has no problem giving his team member 'concussion time' when they screw up, and is commonly shown driving recklessly.
- Bad People Abuse Animals: He has no problem with giving Scooby concussions. Scooby gets concussions less than anyone else though.
- Bastard Boyfriend: To Daphne, constantly beating her up.
- Berserk Button: Has many of these, but some notable ones are disobeying him, hacking into his bank account, breaking the TV, selling the Mystery Machine, stealing his Nintendo Switch, going to places without him, drinking his beer, and spending his money.
- The Bully: Towards his teammates.
- Catchphrase: 'It's concussion time!'
- Control Freak: Especially when it comes to his money.
- Darker and Edgier: He's an awful leader compared to his original self.
- Disproportionate Retribution: Like many of the GoAnimate 'protags', Fred tends to flip out and go on a punishing spree over the most minor things
- Drives Like Crazy: Drives the Mystery Machine very recklessly.
- The Friend Nobody Likes: None of the members of the Scooby gang like him. And for good reason. He is unkind with absolutely nothing to like about him!
- Hypocrite: Sometimes he tells the Mystery Inc to stop yelling while he too is shouting.
- Ignorant Of His Own Ignorance: Fred appears to be rather unaware of the acts he does.
- Jerkass: Abusive of his own teammates and beats them up on a frequent basis.
- Karma Houdini: Unlike many of the other characters who tend to have Laser-Guided Karma hit them, Fred has so far evaded all sorts of comeuppances and attempts to get back at Fred are useless. A good example of this is in the video 'Daphne Blows Up The Mystery Machine', where Daphne accidentally pops the tires on the Mystery Machine and is given Concussion Time. She wakes up in the hospital where the doctor tells her what happened and that he isn't getting the police on him because 'it's GoAnimate and no one gives a crap'.
- Karma Houdini Warranty: His Karma Houdini status is subverted in these videos:
- In 'Fred Jones tries to give Brian a concussion and gets beaten up and arrested', he tries to give Brian a concussion only to receive a painful beating from both him and the Angry German Kid and then put in jail.
- In Fred gets arrested in an airport, he is caught by airport security carrying a bag of weed and is arrested.
- Nightmare Fuel Station Attendant: All his teammates are terrified of him.
- No Indoor Voice: He is always screaming at his teammates.
- Only Sane Man: While Fred is very much a Jerkass, a few videos portrays him as this as he will be dragged into situations he really doesn't want to be involved in. As well, while he is a penny-pincher, it's mostly because Daphne, Shaggy and Scooby would buy everything that isn't bolted down.
- The Scrooge: Though it's unknown as to how much money Fred has, he absolutely hates it when any of Mystery Inc. spends money. He attempts to keep a tight rein on the purse, but he'll gladly attack people if he feels they are spending too much, with one egregious example having Shaggy becoming an food reviewer, only for Fred to race in, smash his camera and give him concussion for doing this as it spends money. To be very fair, though, Fred does have a justified reason as Daphne will happily buy anything and everything she can get her hands on and Shaggy and Scooby would eat entire establishments to the ground. This video seems to suggest the reason why he's so stingy is because that money is his beer money. Come between his money and his beer and he gets violent.
- “Stop Having Fun” Guy: In-Universe, Fred is shown to be so very happy to stop any thing the rest of the Gang from doing anything because it involves spending money.
- Teens Are Monsters: He is a teenager and an short-tempered lunatic.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: Exaggerated to the point it's worth noticing that Fred shares no attributes with his canon counterpart.
- Unsympathetic Comedy Protagonist: One of GoAnimate's biggest examples of this next to Boris and (on a bad day) Caillou, Fred is portrayed as a generally very unpleasant person who yells constantly, always seems angry, and frequently abuses his teammates over petty reasons.
- With Friends Like These...: He is friends with the gang but he injures them on a daily basis.
- Would Hit a Girl: Completely okay with giving his female teammates concussions.
Scooby and Shaggy
Two members of Mystery Inc. and supporting characters for Scooby-Doo videos. Scooby is the dog and Shaggy is a dirty blonde. Unlike Fred, they are relatively close to their canon personalities.
- Big Eater: A trait they share with their canon counterparts, if buying 250 dollars worth of food in Scooby Gang Goes To The Carnival is any indication.
- Canine Companion: Shaggy is a man who has Scooby the dog as his pet.
- Dogs Are Dumb: Scooby has his moments.
- Dumb Blonde: Shaggy isn't the sharpest person ever, and he's a dirty blond.
- The Ditz: Both of them aren't very smart.
- GIS Syndrome: Scooby is usually presented as stock images of himself. It's probably for the best as he is otherwise difficult to present in most (if not all) GoAnimate themes.
- Like Is, Like, a Comma: Shaggy talks like this.
- Nice Guy: Almost as nice as their canonical counterparts.
- The Quiet One: Scooby doesn't talk as much as the rest of the Gang.
- The Woobie: They constantly get concussions from Fred, even when they don't deserve it.
- Those Two Guys: Don't expect them to be apart very often.
- Verbal Tic: Shaggy adds 'like' to his sentences a lot, much like he does canonically.
Daphne
Fred's girlfriend who is obsessed with her phone.
- Adaptational Dumbass: She tends to be depicted as ditzier than she usually is in canon.
- Butt-Monkey: Out of all the Gang members, she gets attacked by Fred the most.
- Companion Cube: Her phone.
- Deadpan Snarker: To Fred at times.
- The Ditz: She's air headed and spacey.
- The Dog Bites Back: In this video, Daphne gets so fed up with Fred's flipping out over being one cent over that she gets the rest of the Gang to spend all of his money. Subverted in that it doesn't take. At all.
- Kindhearted Simpleton: An airhead but very good natured.
- The Load: While none of the gang seems to have jobs, Daphne seems to be the only one openly refusing to get a job. In 'Daphne Spends $1,000,000 on Fred's Credit Card/Concussion Time', Daphne is offended at the suggestion of actually getting a job at McDonalds and decides to steal Fred's credit card.
- Ms. Red Ink: In many videos, she'll buy just about anything she likes, much to Fred's displeasure.
- Nice Girl: Although anyone's nice compared to Fred.
- Phoneaholic Teenager: She loves using her phone and is seen using it in nearly all of her appearances.
- Skewed Priorities: Daphne seems to value her phone more than her own life.
- Slapstick Knows No Gender: Gets concussions from Fred on a frequent basis.
- Took a Level in Dumbass: She's much stupider than her canon counterpart.
- The Woobie: Although everybody in the Scooby gang is this somehow.
The smartest member of the Scooby Gang. Not that that's saying much.
- Black Bead Eyes: And the only gang member who has these to boot.
- Blind Without 'Em: Well she is the trope image, after all.
- Non-Standard Character Design: Nobody else in the gang has Black Bead Eyes but her.
- Meganekko: She looks cute and wears glasses.
- Nice Girl: Like any other member of the Gang that isn't Fred.
- Only Sane Man: The only one of the gang who isn't an idiot, insane, or a jerk.
- The Smart Guy: Good with computers.
- Slapstick Knows No Gender: Fred beats her as often as the other members of the Scooby Gang.
- The Woobie: Like everyone else in the Scooby gang besides Fred.
Notable/Infamous Users
Based on a troll the community had a tasle with some time ago, Bobby is chiefly known for two things; his status as one of GoAnimate's go-to troublemakers, and his love for all things poop-related.
- Butt-Monkey: Being a seminal troublemaker based on someone the community dislikes, this is to be expected.
- Catchphrase: 'Bobby the Poopy the Poopy the Poopy the Poopy!'
- Excrement Statement: Loves to poop on people.
- Funny Afro: It's probably his most distinguishing physical characteristic.
- Toilet Humor: Goes without saying, really. Taken to extremes within Bobby's own videos.
MacusoperAndLPSLover
A prominent user and character in the 'Calming video' sub-genre, MALPSL is best known for her incessant affection towards Macusoper Busters and her tendency to suffer full-blown meltdowns over even the most minor things.
- Butt-Monkey: Besides Macusoper, Caillou, Nice Diesel Busters and Boris, not very many people seem to like her, nor are they able to put up with her meltdowns for very long. She also seems to be a frequent target for nightmares, and appears to be especially hated by 'Evil Judge' and Diesel Busters.
- Dude Looks Like a Lady: MALPSL essentially looks like Eric, but with lurid pink clothing and bright rosy cheeks.
- Inelegant Blubbering: A guaranteed feature of her character, which reliably appears whenever she needs to be calmed.
- Instant Illness: Can somehow become ill from merely watching grounding videos, to the point that she regularly suffers fits of vomiting.
- Living Prop: Often shows up in other videos as a background character, and regularly appears shocked on screen in '[Character] misbehaves at [Place] videos.
- Nice Girl: Despite the obnoxious elements of her character, she seems to only want to protect Macusoper and other characters, even if this borders on obsession.
- Shrinking Violet: To say MALPSL isn't very brave is a big understatement.
Memy9909
The former most hated character of GoAnimate (and for good reason too), Memy9909 is, like Warren, based on a real person.
- Butt-Monkey: Formerly the most hated character in GoAnimate, with so many videos with him have him being hurt, killed, or something bad happening to him.
- Fat Bastard: Commonly portrayed as this in the grounded videos featuring him.
PowerJohn25 UTTP
Another character apparently based on a user from a few years ago, PowerJohn25 UTTP is notable for two things: appearing in videos starring a gigantic cast of random crossover characters, and inevitably wrecking their vacations at various theme parks and resorts.
- Did Not Think This Through: His spur-of-the-moment plans usually wind up killing and/or injuring dozens of people.
- Hair-Trigger Temper: There's no telling what will set him off.
- Failure Is the Only Option: No matter what resort or theme park you take him to, he'll find a way to ruin it.
- The Friend Nobody Likes: His 'friends' spend most of their time threatening him with various punishments if he acts out.
- Jerkass Woobie: He may destroy things and misbehave, but when you consider that literally almost everyone he meets seems to be against him, it's hard not to feel sorry for him at least a little bit.
- Person of Mass Destruction: In most videos he stars in, he racks up a significant bodycount and invariably winds up annihilating wherever he and his friends are visiting, sometimes by accident.
Other Characters
Baxter
The former leader of the 'Good Users'.
- Small Name, Big Ego: A possible reason why Memy liked to troll him.
Joyce and Jane
The canon names given to two of the female Cartoon Classics characters, and the ones from said theme to be most often portrayed as trouble-makers before the rise of the Comedy World theme.
- Alpha Bitch: Out of the two sisters, Jane tends to be the most troublesome, with Joyce often being a mere sidekick.
- Bratty Half-Pint: Joyce, being less troublesome than Jane.
- Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Jane.
- Big Guy, Little Guy: Jane being the tall skinny girl and Joyce being her shorter less skinny sister.
- Butt-Monkey: Even when they aren't misbehaving, many of their peers and sometimes even their parents tend to give them the short end of the stick.
- Fat and Skinny: Jane is the Skinny while Joyce is the Fat.
- Fat Bastard: Downplayed with Joyce, who's only a little chunky but still a jerk.
- Hair-Trigger Temper: Much like Caillou in particular, both of them have equally short tempers and will cause trouble the instant something they don't like happens.
- Laser-Guided Karma: Big time in this video, where they kill their teacher (a Sarah Palin caricature) simply because the teacher didn't offer them to join in on fun activities (granted, the teacher explains that Joyce and Jane's past actions caused this to happen) before running off to Dave and Buster's. This doesn't stop a fellow classmate from telling the teacher their whereabouts, leading to a rather ridiculous series of punishments, being sent to jail, and then being eaten by their peers.
- Lean and Mean: Jane is thin and a troublemaker.
- Pet the Dog: After the rise of Comedy World, the two being common troublemakers started to reduce, and are treated as being one of the more respectable characters.
- Spoiled Brat: Both of them tend to be portrayed as this, calling their father names when they send them to school and throwing big (sometimes even murderous) meltdowns when they get wronged or don't get their way, much like other grounded video protagonists.
- Those Two Bad Guys: The two of them are always causing problems.
- Trademark Favorite Food: Dave and Buster's is frequently portrayed as their choice restaurant.
- You Gotta Have Blue Hair: Joyce's green hair.
Kevin
An otherwise infrequently appearing character, Kevin is a character who appears in some users' videos as someone who causes trouble. Many recent videos have him as a friend and/or fellow trouble-maker to Dora. Kevin is distinguished by his parted brown hair, grey goatee, and bright green T-shirt.
- Depending on the Writer: Most users just have Kevin as a Living Prop in the classroom scenes. Videos which actually involve him go back and forth between him being a well-behaved kid at the mercy of trouble-makers or as a trouble-maker himself.
- The Dragon: Often to Dora, whenever Boots isn't playing the role.
- Living Prop: Usually is just someone to fill up classroom space at someone's school when not being used as a character.
- Perma-Stubble: Inexplicably has a grey goatee despite being elementary school aged.
- Satellite Character: Practically indistinguishable from Dora when trouble-making alongside her.
Michael Jackson
Whether or not as a cameo appearance or as a recurring character, a caricature of Michael Jackson can be found in a large amount of Comedy World videos. He is often distinguishable by his strangely abnormal body structure (double chin, droopy eyes, contour cheek lines and having two nostrils without a nose structure), large sunglasses, black hair and white suit, based on Jackson's appearance in the later years of his life.
- Cool Shades: Almost never seen without them.
- Not Quite Dead: Michael Jackson is almost always depicted as being alive despite his real-life death in 2009. This is even lampshaded in videos where he does appear,
- Reality Subtext: Strangely averted and inverted, Michael's career, especially in his later years, is almost never talked about.
- Real Person Cameo: When he is a minor character in videos.
- Uncanny Valley: His appearance in general is rather off putting, much like the damage done to Michael's appearance.
Mario and Luigi, of course, are the main protagonists of the Super Mario Bros. series and, considering the franchise's recognizability with GoAnimate's Periphery Demographic of kids, make frequent appearances in the grounded videos, ranging between being recurring extras, victims of trouble-makers, or occasionally as main characters in their own videos.
- Adaptational Wimp: Canonically, they are the Mushroom Kingdom's biggest heroes. In the grounded videos, more often than not they can't even put up a fight against and are easily defeated by prepubescent children.
- Badass Mustache: Although how 'badass' they are seems to depend on the user.
- Butt-Monkey: Whenever they fall victim to the troublemaker's schemes.
- Big Little Brother: Like in the actual franchise, Luigi is occasionally rendered by certain users to be taller than his older brother Mario.
- Depending on the Writer: Both in terms of their designs and their actual characterizations. They (and other Mario) characters can be rendered in many different themes depending on the user. (They usually get rendered in Comedy World or Lil' Peeps.) Characterization-wise, they can be the heroes that they are canonically or be the chew toys of the trouble-makers. Additionally, despite being rare, a handful of users (particularly those who are fans of adult media) even perceive them as 'baby show' video game characters and make them either trouble-makers or treated like crap by everyone.
- GIS Syndrome: Some users simply render the bros (and any other Mario characters) as their stock image art.
- Recurring Extra: Viewers will good eyes with often see them in the background.
Trip
Trip, the rival to Ash Ketchum in the Unova seasons of Pokémon, is a popular character to use as a trouble-maker in the grounded videos, whether they are actually Pokémon oriented or not.
- Adaptational Villainy: Canon Trip is a somewhat aloof character with acts like a jerk and who became nicer over time. Here, Trip is your typical GoAnimate brat with none of that.
- Adapted Out: He is almost never featured with his Pokémon, not even as stock images.
- Canon Foreigner: Has invented parent characters.
- GIS Syndrome: Some videos have Trip (and other Pokémon characters) a stock images of themselves.
- Small Reference Pools: It seems odd that Trip (despite his Hidden Depths) would be the main trouble-maker from the Pokémon anime, giving one the idea that someone saw his initial treatment of Ash in his debut episodes (but saw no others where Trip went through Character Development), made a grounded video out of him, and the fanbase just ran with it.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: Trip could get a little rude toward Ash in his home series, but it was clear that it was just an act. Here, though he really is a genuine Jerkass.
Kai Lan
- Adaptational Badass: Like every baby show character.
- Adaptational Villainy: She's not the sweet kid you know and love(?).
- Asian Rudeness: Ye Ye even calls her a 'Chinese brat'.
- Badass Adorable: Small yet can do all sorts of badass stuff.
- Creepy Child: She does quite a few creepy stuff.
- Cute and Psycho: A cute Chinese kid who is a jerk.
- Enfant Terrible: Not to the extent of the other kids, but still pretty evil.
- Evil Has a Bad Sense of Humor: Has one sick sense of humor.
- Kids Are Cruel: Picks on everybody.
- Pint-Sized Powerhouse: Although any troublemaker is this.
- Jerkass: A total prick.
- Super-Strong Child: Definitely.
- The Rival: To Dora.
Angelica Pickles
In the few Grounded videos that involve Rugrats, Angelica Pickles tends to be the most common trouble-maker for obvious reasons.
- Badass Adorable: She's a toddler who is physically strong.
- Berserk Button:
- The existence of the other babies irks her.
- Don't talk to her while she's using her phone.
- Butt-Monkey: Far more so than she is canonically. Here, Angelica is far less successful in getting away with her wrong-doings.
- Enfant Terrible: She's three years old and loves bullying the babies.
- Evil Brit: Most users give her British voice settings.
- Girlish Pigtails: A trait that she has canonically.
- Jerkass: Though, really, she isn't really much worse than she is canonically.
- Spoiled Brat: Again, par for the course with Angelica. She barely even takes a level inJerkass from her canon characterization.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: On the other hand, though, Angelica rarely (if ever) physically attacked the babies in her home series, as she's willing to do here.
- Unexplained Accent: Commonly has a British voice setting, while none of the other characters (including her parents) do.
- Would Hurt a Child: She's okay with psychically harming the babies if they annoy her.
Noddy
A beloved character who often appears in '[Character] Misbehaves at [Resort]' videos, Noddy seems to be one of the few characters who is only rarely disliked by Go Animate's community. As such, you're far more likely to see him getting ungrounded than grounded.- Combat Pragmatist / Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: When troublemakers are misbehaving, it may seem like he's going to be another victim of their rampages, but more often than not he manages to either escape unscathed or even take the troublemakers head-on.
- Sacred Cow: Is this to much of the unironic fanbase.
Marc David Chapman
He is a suspect murderer and trouble maker.- No Celebrities Were Harmed: Well, He is based the real person who murdered John Lennon of The Beatles.
You are grounded grounded grounded...
He is one of the stock parents, named for, well, the voice used for him.
- Fat Bastard: And how!
Ako in Comedy World form
Ako in anime form
She started out in timonyoumook's videos and went on to become karenjean5409's wife character (as in the wife to his persona)
- Canon Foreigner: Her adoptive parents are Timon and Pumbaa.
- Nerd Glasses: Most of the time when she's in Comedy World form.
Princess Peach from the Super Mario Bros. series is a less popular character to use a grounding character.
- Adaptational Villainy: Canon Peach is just the person Mario and Luigi have to rescue loads and loads of times thanks to Bowser. Here, she's just another Jerkass troublemaker.
- Canon Foreigner: Has invented parent characters.
